My boyfriend just said that Giga Drain was super effective against his Jynx in an NPC battle, and I'm sure I heard something about certain games switching around a Pokemon's strengths and weaknesses -- could anyone perhaps verify this for me, and explain exactly what this is? He's getting very frustrated xD

Also, he said that one of his Pokemon was damaged by mean look o_o any info there, or is his game bugged?

It was probably in an Inverse Battle, where the weak points are the strong points and other way around. It's a nifty addition, I like it, despite having only done it once.

I think he's ****ing with you. Jynx isn't weak to grass and mean look doesn't do damage.

This would be true if jynx resisted Grass type attacks, but it does not. Ice only resists ice and psychic resists psychic and fighting. So Jynx would be neutral to grass attacks.

Ice is effective against grass. In inverted battles, grass is effective against ice, simple as that !

It's not that simple. Grass hits ice for neutral damage, and so, should do neutral damage in inverse battles as well. It would have to be not very effective against ice for it to be super effective. I think that this is the case, I've only had one inverse battle as of yet.

were dark type attacks always normally effective against steel?

for some reason i keep thinking dark isnt very effective against steel.

It wasn't very effective before, but now both Dark and Ghost types are normally effective in Gen VI.

Isn't the Ghost type weak to Dark, koff~

Honedge be havin' troubles with Dark types, so either it's the Steel or the Ghost part. Honedge got shafted with the change in my opinion, koffi~

Yep, meaning they'd also be 1x effective in an inverse battle. o:

The only type resistance changes are that Steel no longer resists Ghost or Poison type attacks, so odds are he was probably fooling around. Since this is more of a general question than a discussion I'm going to have to close this thread. D:
