Pokemon's Evolution as a Game Series

gosh i feel so young, i'm only 15 yet i started playing pokemon with pokemon blue and worked my way to pokemon SS through every pokemon game.
but it does state in HG SS that they do try to appeal to the older audience while still making it enjoyable for the younger ones too.
plus i think they keep the older gen pokemon in to keep us long term fans happy :P

I'm still waiting for a PC game, fully 3D, where we see our character from a third person perspective. Of course in a PC game space and graphics are not a problem and therefore it could reach new levels of RPG awesomeness.

But as long as the Nintendo-something portable pokémon game produces rivers of money it won't happen, I think.

I agree, I like how they're still open to the younger gen but still appealing to the older fans. And the fan base is 20's? 0.o My cousins, and I have been playing the games since at least 97' and i'm only 15. But my other cousin is 22, and the other is 16. I hear more teens remembering the old original first gen then any other age group. We all have the first and second gens on our I-pod touches and Zune HDs at my school. I say the fanbase is a little younger then mid 20's

I think it's great that Game Freak is moving along with their fan base. Not only will the old fans enjoy the more complex designs, but fresh fans will become more attached, as technology is also advancing and most things aren't as exciting or amazing as they used to be. The more catastrophic storylines, such as the one in Diamond, Pearl and Platinum, is attaching.

I agree with the general consensus that Nintendo needs to move on and "evolve" with the Pokemon series. However, they're definitely losing fans due to the HUGE increase in number of Pokemon. People who were die hard fans of R/B/Y actually lost interest in the game when more Pokemon were released. From a strategic point of view, one who plays competitively, I love that Nintendo is throwing more Pokemon our way. We hit 493 with DPPt and thats really when I got into the competition aspect of the game. But with over 500 Pokemon to chose from now?! It just keeps getting better! I never had a problem with the child aspect of the game, it was just another quest. It fit the aesthetics of the game. A game like Fallout 3 or Red Dead Redemption, I would NOT expect a storyline or dialog like in the Pokemon games. Could they move on and get more mature? Absolutely. Should they? I don't care, I like my Pokemanz just the way they are. :)

i'm 16 and started my grand adventure with a simple pikachu in yellow version.
i like the fact that they are targeting an older age group.

yeah, i hope something blows up in the versions XD

and with the better 3d stuff, it would look awesome.

A good point actually, but i hate when they mixing divine power with Pokemon. How the hell you can capture a Pokemon(god) that supposed to control Time, Space, and Dimension? They can make complex, i take it but mixing pokemon with divine power is really bad thing for the story itself in the end.

If they're finally going to age the franchise with their fans, they're a bit late. I started with Blue when I was nine and now I'm 20. This is also apparently the last generation, but we know how that goes.

do you have a source for that?

why would they stop a cash cow like this? I can not think of a worse business decision for GF or Nintendo (short of deciding to make no more mario games)
