    oh my god that's long

Haha, they did have a rap in Unova though, didn't they? Maybe that was only featuring the new gen V pokémon though. This ridiculous length of a full pokérap these days actually goes hand in hand with the theory that the pokémon creators dropped "Gotta catch 'em all" after a while. There were simply too many pokémon, and the anime (and game plot!) always focused on a trainer's heart and the meaning of bonding with your pokémon partners. Becoming buddy with 718 pokémon might be an overwhelming task O.o

Ah I suppose there were other Pokeraps, but they don't feel like a rap as the original did haha. There was one for each region, I never actually seen any of the others though.

They probably can't do a Pokérap with all available Pokémon due to the sheer amount of Pokémon that they would have to cover. I do think that it would be nice if they did a Pokérap with just the new Pokémon of the region.

And I think that what you were talking about Adventure, was the Pokemon 'Can't Stop (Catchin' 'Em All)' rap?

Have to agree with Adventure; that is pretty long. xD I loved the original Pokérap—it was very fun to listen. Every time it was on TV, I would always sing along… well, at least in my mind. Haha. In my opinion, it would have been quite epic if they made it traditional and created a Pokérap for every region. They didn't, though, unfortunately, which is a shame.

It doesn't surprise me that CollegeHumor would make a video like this, but I'm glad they did. Granted, the length of it just shows how many more Pokemon we've gotten since the original Pokérap, but that's part of what makes it so good.

I don't expect them to bring back a full Pokérap (maybe a regional one) to the tail end of anime episodes any time soon- they'd be longer than the episode itself, haha.

Yeah, I wouldn't expect the old one to be recreated. This is probably as close as it would get, and it's fairly funny as well.

What I meant was the motto overall :3 "Gotta catch 'em all" used to be the slogan for pokémon but it hasn't been for years from what I've heard. For reasons I stated in my first post here.

That was utterly hilarious, especially the "Water...please!" "Water is a type of Pokemon!" comment. XD (although I thought they went too far with the "threatening the kid" part.. :() That was indeed long, though; I wasn't even planning to watch/listen to the whole thing, but I did anyway (now I actually feel like I went through all the exhaustive effort needed to catch each Pokemon.. XD)... I can't believe they actually did it, I thought they were going to at least do the Kanto Pokemon and then just feature funny non-Pokemon-naming lyrics for the rest of the vid... Major props to the people who compiled all of that anime footage and the clips for each Pokemon, and the person who typed all of the names out... As far as I saw, no spelling errors with Pokemon names! ^^ Pronunciations were a whole other matter, unfortunately.... Really, stuff like Scizor, Kyogre, and even Celebi got butchered (at least in my opinion....then again, I did say that I feel that people are free to pronounce the names however they wish due to inconsistency within official materials.. >.<). At least they used my preferred pronunciation of Rayquaza, though. :P

One of the things that I disliked about the video was that the placement of the Kanto Pokemon got shifted....since the original Pokerap (Kanto's) tune is being used, the Kanto Pokemon could have at least stayed the same.. Originally, I would've preferred an entirely new tune being used, but I'm not too annoyed now, especially as the Rule of Funny principle was utilized well (for the most part).

Nice inclusion of anime scenes (although how did they get all of that footage..?), especially the "cool fight scene" ones and the "funny moment that fits the currently-spoken lyrics of the song" ones.

Ah I suppose there were other Pokeraps, but they don't feel like a rap as the original did haha. There was one for each region, I never actually seen any of the others though.

    There's one for Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and technically Unova (a "spiritual successor"-type Pokerap for Unova, although that one is unfortunately incomplete, like some of the other ones). GWAH? You should at least listen to the Johto Pokerap; it's just as catchy as the original, IMO. :P Hoenn is kind of where it felt forced, though, sad to say... ;_;

For those interested, here's all of the official Pokeraps:

Um...they actually brought back the "Gotta catch 'em all!" catchphrase in honor of Pokemon X and Y's release (complete with its own music video and sweepstakes!) ^^

    "Catchatronic" by Pogo:

I'm actually glad that the catchphrase was brought back (it's just classic!); the feat also seems even more impressive with each new Pokemon generation that arrives (and it's time-consuming post-game, so it keeps people occupied for quite a bit after defeating the Elite 4 and Champion for the first time). Despite the difficulty in the task (which is time-sensitive due to the existence of event Pokemon), the GTS still makes it much easier, and having one game from each generation helps a little more..

As for bonding with each Pokemon....that will probably be a task in itself. :<

(As for me, I plan to maximize affection/happiness for all Pokemon in Pokemon-amie one day.. :P (not all 718/721, but more like 300+ as I'm only doing fully-evolved Pokemon plus a few Formes/variations (if I trained the Pokemon from Egg or its initial state to its highest evolutionary stage, I consider the "previos stages" caught)... Props to anyone who does manage to complete the "Living Pokedex" version of that, though. o_O {D:}*shudders at the thought*)

Yeah, a Pokerap of all existing Pokemon ("National Dex"-style) would be unfeasible but still possible, in my opinion, if someone is dedicated and/or up to the task.. Regional Pokeraps are just fine, in my opinion, particularly because each one uses different instrumentation/melody.

It doesn't surprise me that CollegeHumor would make a video like this, but I'm glad they did. Granted, the length of it just shows how many more Pokemon we've gotten since the original Pokérap, but that's part of what makes it so good.

This; I think that there should at least be a Kalos one (I mean, even including Mega Evolutions, we only got 69/72 new Generation 6 Pokemon, which is less than even the Kanto regional Pokedex), though... The reduced number of Pokemon definitely makes it do-able, IMO (although I imagine episode time is being crunched as it is, and Cartoon Network would probably favor showing commercials/advertisements rather than a regional Pokerap like we had in the old days...).
