Both were coor generation dogs that were never both in the same version...
 
Vulpix -> Ninetales
Ninetales is Vulpix's evolved form, of course ;)
 
Ninetales --> Rhydon

they both pok?mon Blaine had in the anime...
 
Rhydon -> Nidoking
Both are similar in appearence, and they can both learn Surf (belive that!)
 
Nidoking --> Umbreon

Both are Dark-type dogs (even though Houndoom is also part Fire)
 
sharpedo they both learn crunch and if i'm not mistaken sharpedo is dark type to....
