Felt like getting it off my chest so...not many threads talk about the famous Pokerus at all. Pokerus is a virus pokemon get, but it is so rare that you might get it once in your whole pokemon game life. I forgot the number, but it was 1 out of 21,000 and such. I never got it, and all I know is that it is three times more rare than finding a shiny, which I got one at the moment. The cool thing about it is that it doubles your stat points every time you level up, so when you level up, instead of getting 2 for attack, you get 4. Nice thing if you want a, epic pokemon. The downside is that it literaly decreases your bond with that current pokemon, setting it back to zero as if you just got it. Has anybody got this virus besides me and other friends?

The first time I got it was in Ruby. Back then, I didn't know what it was, and thought it was a glitch. I got it again in D/P/Pt. I lost the Platinum game that had the Pokerus, but I managed to safely preserve it in HG/SS.

    More Hints

I also know that Nurse Joy explains to you what it is when you take it to heal, since it happened to me. You can spread the virus once you use it to fight or having it in your party with other un-infected pokemon. It is also possible to hatch with a pokemon with the Pokerus status.

Also, it stops being contagious after some time (a day?), but PC pokemon remain contagious.
I've had it once, on my Gold ROM. I was quite happy about that, especially since it happened after some needless grinding to increase stats/levels.

Since it's in generation II and on, I'm moving this to GPG.

I've gotten the Pokerus twice, actually. O_o
Once in Sapphire, in recently again in Platinum. I honestly didn't care TOO much for it, but I had no idea it was so rare... I didn't know that it was even rare at all. xD

I did get it once, on my Crystal I think, a long, long time ago.
I didn't know what it was, so at first I thought it was a real virus and my Pokémon would be harmed or die.
Nurse Joy does kind of explain that it is rare and actually good, but since she doesn't say that, I didn't know it was this rare and this good (for stats and such).
I do hope to get it again sometime.

I actually caught it a few days ago, i still have two infected pokemon in the pc box. I didn't really take much advantage of it, all i really did was EV train a sneasel for about 20 minutes.

I've got it on both my Diamond and HeartGold. Apparently it's supposed to be even rarer than getting a shiny Pokémon, but I feel like it's actually easier to encounter Pokérus.
Well, it helps that it's contagious. So the chances of finding a wild or bred Pokemon with it are lower, but you only need one to give all your other Pokemon Pokerus if you so choose. Too bad that doesn't happen with shinies. :P

That's not how Pokerus works at all.

It doubles the background values (Effort Values) that determine stat growth you get from battling Pokémon, not the actual stat increase you gain each level. Result being you might run into slightly higher stat gains than normal, but you'll never see anything extreme unless you're going some advanced stuff.

It also doesn't effect your Pokémon's happiness stat in any way whatsoever.

I've never gotten it, sadly. It's pretty weird too, as I've played Silver and Sapphire more than RuneScape. Which is a lot; I've logged over 2,000 hours in RS.

This. Very much so. Makes me wonder where OP got her information. XD

Otherwise, I've never encountered Pokerus naturally in any of my games. The only time I've ever had it is when a friend traded an infected Magikarp to my HG file that I eventually erased. XD

    Wrong Information

Sorry for the wrong information, heard it from a friend and just typed my thoughts out, never knew he was wrong about it. You are all right, it just increases Effort Values and doesn't lower happiness. Sorry for the inconvenience. :(

I have Pokerus in practically all of my Gen. 4 games, so I can't really remember where I first got it. x)

I tend to have a hard time spreading it to other pokemon though. DX

Ive encountered PKRS in Sapphire and Platinum as well as a few times through the GTS a Munchlax and a Milotic great finds on both though :)

and where did your friend get that info?

    IDK

My friend never told me, he refused and told me he researched it online. Thought it was right at the time since I was a newbie at Pokerus and never really researched it until someone actually realized the information was wrong. Better ask him again I suppose.

It happened to me twice when my cousin passed a Pokemon with it in Pearl and recently i found in ruby a gloom in the safari i caught it and i jumped shouting yes yes yesss.

I caught it in Sapphire a few weeks ago and have been spreading it around to as many of my Gen III games and the Pokemon I've caught in them as possible. I imported some infected ones to HeartGold and plan to start spreading it to my other Gen IV games soon, then to Gen V when the time comes.
