@Kumori: Meh, I haven't tried any other ones (besides phpBB), so I wouldn't know. I'll check them out, though, if I can. And I would go off like a good little boy and point pokespe.tk to pkmntrans.illusory-fragments.net, but .tk sites display ads, so I think I'll go off and write some script that sets the top frame to pkmntrans.illusory-fragments.net, so we don't bother readers.

@ vampirepeaches: That's perfectly fine! I just noticed somewhere that you mentioned translating, but I hadn't read the actual original post so I probably just misunderstood it or something! ^.^

@benji: I guess that means I'll be relying on you! Take your time, I still have like half a volume left to scan and clean up anyways =)

@minakichan: I can try translating the Korean SFX...though I don't know how well I'll be able to do that. Korean has TONS of words for sfx (like Japanese) and I haven't actually seen any Korean versions of PokeSpe so I'm not sure how difficult it will be...but lemme take a look and see what I can do =). I'm fine with scan cleaning for now, but I do have exams coming up in April/May-ish, so I will probably have to hand that job over to the pros when the time comes =D
 
About how long do you think it will take you guys to have a releasable version of the 3rd chapter from volume 12 and to make a releasable version of a chapter in general from the start?

That would be up to minakichan... we'd probably only update it for every new release (unless we're going to be posting random stuff on the news).

Or just half of 25? ^^

You'll probably be done scanning and cleaning everything before I get done with translating volume 22. It'd be nice if we had another Japanese translator...

You know, you should just post zips of the raw Japanese chapters, as I'm sure many people would like to get their hands on some never-before-seen-on-internet FR/LG and Emerald chapters!

I haven't timed how fast we go... I'd say (adding in the time it takes Junky to translate) about a week?

Another thing though, see my friend (Who's doing his own scan of 12 right now actually! Though he's at the same point you are with only up to the second chapter done due to lack of free time) is wondering what PokeCommunity's 10/11 and 12 are. By that I mean are they the C-Y translations or did you guys take asian language versions and translate them yourselves? I know the 16-19 ones are C-Y (Right now I'm actually working with the 16 scan the guy here did myself and separating them in to single page images rather than double page ones - unless they are double page images of course and upping them to the size of the images from 10/11) but have no idea to tell him when he asks what volumes 10/11/12 are here.

@benji: Yeah, .tk's ads make me sad ;_; I think they used to not do that >< We could try a .co.nr; they're adless and have URL masking, and all you need is to include their tiny sticker icon. Oh, and I'm going to work through the PHP contact script, but I'm just about to step out of the dorm, so it'll have to wait until tomorrow >_< sorry...

@Nightwizard: Wow. Haha, it seems that every time we try to scanlate something, someone decides to scan in their volume... Please keep us posted as to your friend's progress; we don't want to have to translate something that someone else is going to already provide (and we've put some work into volume 12 already ^^;) If your friend can scan in another volume, like 14 or 15, that would actually be the most useful probably, but it doesn't really matter. BTW, we are taking the Korean release and translating it into English.
 
Ah see he's doing the C-Y version so there's that difference at least. Did you guys also do korean->english for 10 and 11?
 
The 10 and 11 are actually other people's C-Y scans. We released 1 chapter of volume 11, but then someone posted their C-Y scans (basically the same situation here). If he really is doing volume 12 scans, and he'll get the whole volume done, then we might have to stop doing volume 12 and go to volume 13. (in which case, sorry in advance kazukiPP and Junky56, again >_>; I know you guys put in a ton of hard work.)

*sigh* I'm starting to wonder what we're doing this whole thing for ^^;. For years, no one has been posting PokeSpe. After nicoleb, we start trying to scanlate, and suddenly everyone wants to scan their own C-Y books in.
 
Don't worry about it, he's probably going slower than you guys because of his lack of free time and he's also doing some other ****. I mean when he actually decides to scan them on he's faster, since he's just doing the already translated version so it didn't take him more than a few hours to get the first 2 chapters done (Though in a slightly lower quality - his middles are kinda blurry) but that was 4 days ago and he has no idea when he'll have time to do more so whatever
 
Hey! First of all, I just feel obligated to come here and say: THANK YOU SO MUCH! I simply ADORE this mangá, that is SO hard to find.
But now you guys are scanlating it, and I can finally read! I love you all, seriously.

And as much as I'd like to Help, a) I can't translate Korean or Japanese. b) I'm so busy that i've been willing to post here since Monday, but just got time to do it now! c) English is not my home-language, (and I guess that anyone still reading this already realized it) so I can't even QC!

I was gonna offer doing something about the site, but then I got here and saw that everything was taken care of. The desing is beautiful!
But well, I have some minor photoshop ability, Basic-of-the-basic HTML Knowledge and I can do Gifs, too. If ANY of that will be EVER necessary [Or there's something ELSE I can do], just PM me.


@Nightwizard: if your friend really haven't done much of volume 12, maybe you can talk to him about dropping it and start volume 14. I mean, wouldn't it be really good if when PokeSpe[That's the ScanlationGroup name, right?] finish doing volume 13, volume 14 was already Ready-to-read? But Ok, if he really wanna do the 12, then i guess no-one can stop him ^^

I already asked them about this, and think it's a good idea too, but while he does have other volumes I think he said that he was probably just going to continue with 12 for the place we're at - in my opinion I think he just doesn't want anyone to place pressure on him to actually get it done since like I said and he doesn't have that much time to do this sort of stuff and he's also working on a pokemon card database or something.
 
i'd probably beable to see those scans if my computer didn't fail at life... (it has "issues" with midiaflare and sendspace)

Almost done with chapter 5 typesetting, for the record. Just had a little match on WiFi to take a break. XD Gotta love Ice Punching Salamence and freezing Blissey... even if I did win the match by luck.

(Maybe we should just jump to volume 27, which Chuang Yi doesn't have, and drive Chuang Yi out of business and let other random people scan all the rest.)

@Willer: Somebody scanned the Chuang Yi version of Volume 11, so we dropped it. =(

@minakichan: Oh, and if you'd like, you could use PHP for the header/footers too (I see you're using javascript for those... I used to do that, but things get messy o_O)


*ahem* Anyways, I set pokespe.tk, poke-spe.tk, pokemon-special.tk, and pokemonspecial.tk (yes, I'm obnoxious like that) to redirect to https://img.leafwood.net/d/2-15-2008/pokespe-rd.php (temporary page), which gets rid of the .tk ads/frame with javascript by setting window.top.location, which redirects to pkmntrans.illusory-fragments.net. Whew, what a mouthful. >_<

Oh yeah, and I got pkmntrans.tk and pkmn-trans.tk, too. (Hey, they're free!) *yawn* Anyone want a pokespe.tk email?

For the redirect page, I'm going to ask minakichan to put it on the PokeSpe website later (because it'd be eating up too much bandwidth on mine). ^^
 
@ benji: oops typo. I meant that I'd scanned half of 25 (haven't started cleaning yet), and I still have 26 to go. I suppose I could post zips...but I bet there'd be loads of people going "WHERE'S THE ENGLISH? WHERE'S THE ENGLISH?" which would lead straight back to this forum anyway xD

@minakichan: Thanks for the upload! By SFX, do you want like a direct translation, as in, the actual sounds made when you read the characters? (Like how Chuang Yi does a lot of them-- the number of times I've seen BWWHFFFMMM or something as an SFX xD) or the actual meanings? Obviously in some cases the meaning will be clear but as I said, Korean has a lot of onamatpoeia and I don't think there are specific english words for all of them =S

I'll admit this looks a bit hard...most of the words are so...LOCAL you know =S and the fonts a bit hard to read sometimes. But I'll try my best! =)
 
about the releases, i see you guys have some chapters out, but will there be volume batches as well?
