It's true grass would be more appropriate but it's too obvious. So I applaud Poketto on his originality.

I think you've fully mastered the G/S/C style, as for the starters. The only two problems I have is the lineart of the water starter's first evolution. I think it could be more round and smooth near the bottom of the tail like how it curves too instantly which makes it look quite messy and uneven. The second problem I have is the fin, it just seems too large and out of place. What you could do is make the fin smaller or change the placement of the backfin so you could see it.

Edit:

What I noticed about the first evolution of the Fire Tanuki is that it looks just like a regular Tanuki. So I recommend adding something onto it to make it look more of a fire type.

A grass tanuki does sound more reasonable, but I don't know if I will keep it fire type I may change it to a meerkat or somthing(somthing fast) because I like fast fire types(Infernape!)

It would be too obvious though, everybody and their dog makes grass typed Tanooki pokemon. Sometimes it's good to think outside the box.

I think I prefer the water type starters though...what will the grass type starters be?

You could add some lighting to the outline for the monkey, and i'm not so sure what you're trying to do on the right of the monkey's head. That odd anti-aliasing:

Usually, the colours should be switched. Also, on the bird I think you made a very minor mistake by adding an extra hue in a pixel.
