Im on the Rugged Road route, and I got over 1000 steps but I still can't find a Ponyta. All I keep finding is Machops. Is there something Im doing wrong?

You know when you are in the grass looking for a pokemon?
    You get exclamation marks?
Try to look for an exclamation point with 2 or three in it...because machops are 1 of !

Yea.. but don't you gotta press em no matter what they are? Cause when I ignore the one's with one "!" above it, it says "it got away..." than returns back to the menu.

You have to hit all of them, and sometimes another will appear after you have hit the previous. Anyway, I haven't looked up about this stage, but I bet I know the problem: There are six Pokemon that can be obtained in a course, and 3 of them are chosen at the beginning. These will be the only ones you can get on that stroll. You'll need to come back from the stroll and retry another time, hoping for the best.

EDIT: Just looked it up now, and I can confirm that Ponyta and Machop are in the same group. I didn't mention groups before, but just to keep this simple, the fact that they are in the same group means you can only find one or the other on a stroll.

Yeah, you do. Which means that you're going to have to waste some watts trying to get two !!s.

Well Im pressing the "!!"'s and im still only getting machops... :é

Ol, thanks. So do I need to retry going on the route? Or will I always keep getting Machops even if I return from the scroll and go back?

Take the Pokemon off the Pokewalker and back onto the stroll to re-randonise what Pokemon you can get. Keep doing that until you find thhat Ponyta.

Going to close then - if you have any more questions use the Help thread, please.
