    Pokkén Tournament Championship Series

    [PokeCommunity.com] Pokkén Tournament Championship Series

Although it's something I'm unlikely to ever enter due to travel (and skill!) I'm super excited that this is a thing!

I really enjoyed the streaming from last year's World Championships and will eagerly follow the matches this year if they do the same. The fast pace and skill of Pokkén really add edge and excitement to spectators and the commentators!

Is this something you would take part in or follow?

It's UK Nationals this weekend! ^^ And Pokkén is being live streamed! ^^ ^^

    You can watch it here!

The schedule for the weekend is as follows but it doesn't look like the stream starts until noon today.

    Saturday, May 14, 2016
    Senior Division Bracket Pools: 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.
    Masters Division Bracket Pools: 10 a.m. – 10 p.m.

    Sunday, May 15, 2016
    Senior Division Final Bracket: 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
    Masters Division Final Bracket: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

    Will you be watching?

ngl I kind of have a hard time watching matches for some reason (though I've managed to watch bits of stuff)

Would I enter? lol no I ain't good enough for that and of course travel is an issue

If you look at the website though it says that Pokken will be at CEO 2016. I didn't know that, I thought that EVO was gonna be Pokken's first national.

I only like watching the official stuff really, it can get very exciting, especially if the commentary is good!

    One of the commentators at UK Nationals kept saying Blarziken though which ground my gears a tad! {XD}

Did anyone see the final? It was so intense! The winner of the winners bracket faces the winner of the losers bracket. If the winners bracket winner wins best of 3 they become champion but if the losers bracket winner wins best of 3 they reset the bracket and play another best of 3 to decide the champion. The latter happened and it went right down to the last round and the losers bracket winner had just 1HP left but managed to get the win. It was so awesome!

So next weekend we have two streams to enjoy - German Nationals and U.S. Regionals! ^^

Apparently Pokken at EVO has 1165 entrants. Street Fighter V and Smash 4 have a lot more (5000 something and 2600 something respectively), but that's a lot more than I expected, and it's not even the game with the least number of competitors either. I think CEO only had like barely 300 people in it iirc.

Yay for Pokkén! Can't wait to see how EVO unfolds!

It was interesting watching the US Nationals at the weekend as I've seen many of the top European players several times now so was good to see what some of their competition at Worlds will be! Will everyone get wrecked by the Japanese?

I found results and battle logs here, didn't manage to watch any live streaming though :( I was expecting my Twitter feed to be full of Evo Pokkén stuff over the weekend but barely anything! In stark contrast with Smash! I'm a little worried over how well it was received.

Did you catch any of Worlds at the weekend? What did you think?

I said this in the Daily article but thought I'd post here too.

I think this weekend was a pretty epic and satisfying end to the first ever Pokkén Tournament World Championship Series!

It was nice seeing a range of character use and several female players competing in the earlier stages, especially in the Senior Division. Hopefully they'll continue to compete and perhaps watching them will attract more female players to the competitive scene.

Hugely happy for Woomy! Gun in the Seniors Division. A great showing and did the UK proud!

I was rooting for Potetin to win the Masters Division. His ability to play as so many characters at such a high level is incredible, so impressive. A true and deserving World Champion!

I certainly didn't expect to see a Chandulure in the Grand Final. Never seen one played so well. New found respect for the Luring Pokémon!

It'll be interesting to see where it goes from here. I really hope it continues and grows as I find it so exciting to watch at the top level!
