Popularity of Pokemon Increasing?

Yea I've noticed that especially for the release of D/P because of the wifi abilites

:t354:~*!*~Queen Boo~*!*~

I've noticed that too, in multiple ways.

More Pokemon products are releasing in stores as well.

I was at Toys R Us buying something Naruto related for a friend and I saw this fairly large section of Pokemon stuff.
It was cool to see because for years the stores didn't have anything Pokemon related at all.

...or if they did it was only cards or something.

Well I think the popularity has drecresed sadly, Yeah I've gone to toys r us and Kay bee toys. and no one is at the pokemon toy aisle and it seems yu-gi-oh sells more cards than pokemon. I see alot of cards and toys at the sections. no one buys any ;(
the only people i see buying pokemon stuff are kids..and there buying the games. I am
21 and love pokemon to death, but it's true I can't say I love pokemon in public but I still do for example on Newgrounds.com and gamespot.com everyone gets flamed if they say they like it most comebacks are its "too kiddie" " use to play it when i was a kid" . i so hate that,,plus alot of anti-pokemon flash movies there too ;(

I would say that it has increased a small amount. For some time I couldn't find any Pokemon merchandise in the stores, aside from the cards. When Pokemon first came out, it was everywhere. Now, however, there are a few small sections where I go that are dedicated to Pokemon items. It makes me a little happy inside that it's coming back.

That, my friend, is called growing up. Sad, I know. u_u
I feel it as well. Being 20, I can't find any Pokemon fans my age. All of my friends who used to like it have moved on to more "mature" games and other hobbies. And I'm not about to go up to some 10-year-old kid who's playing the game and ask if I can play as well. ._. The parents might chase after me.

I guess its also a question of support.

I can't speak about an increase in popularity here in germany, the TV Show seems to run great since there are 3 episodes per day, but this maybe because of the lack of other animes and the way they censored some showes to death. (like naruto, they even changed parts of the storyline -_-)

We dont even get any new Movies(on DVD) and the TCG is pretty much death compared to 4-5 years before.

But maybe it will get better with D/P.

-_- thats sad to hear, I'm hoping that Pokemon gets better around your vacinity, for your sake, and for Pokemon's sake as well.

i can't really say its increased here in the UK. The games are still going strong and D/P are thought to lead the game charts for atleast 3 months.

However the anime is showing with declining figures, the card game is gone without a trace and the toys well, lets just says my mates organised a pokemon toy buring bonfire party.

Personally, I think it is separating itself from the 'fad'. Now it is also thought of as a traditional Nintendo staple...after all, it just celebrated 10 years!

Sure, it still has a somewhat kiddie image, but even that's changing as more and more gamers come back to what is an excellent RPG game. I think it is on the rise, and will end up being like Sonic or something, with almost no stigma. (Except for the show, ew)

I think it has decreased, but it will not disappear. Pokémon has changed a little from the old games though. Old sprites were better and the graphics of the new games are not good. It was less childish then I have heard.

Actually, from a (mediocre)spriter standpoint, I can safely say that the sprites in the new gen games are much, much better than the originals. We have a full color pallet and everything. The landscapes are more in depth, etc. The fences in Pallet town don't look like marshmallows anymore.

The only reason it seems like pokemon is fading is because we're getting older and others around us are losing interest. Pokemon is still a hit with the wee tykes.

I agree with you 100% on that, the new sprites for D and P are much better, and the graphics are a huge advancement from GBA.
