Throughout our journies through the fourth generation Pokemon worlds, we've experienced many different post-game events. But which do you like the best? Was is HGSS' added region, or Platinum's improved Battle Arena? Do you find more enjoyment out of the post-game experiences than the main storyline? If so, why? If, not why?

Personally, I loved HGSS' post-game experience. The addition of Kanto was brilliant and it really improved what the originals introduced. Although, having played Kanto yet again, I didn't find it boring or banal, in fact I found it more interesting.

As fun as the battle areas in Platinum were, they overall just felt like filler at times. HGSS on the other hand obviously has the superior post game. Rather than just a handful of new areas, going to a old region with some storyline changes really did keep the game for getting too dull. Plus, the battle frontier was also in the games as well, and while not a good as Emerald's massive one, it still holds up and can be quite challenging.

    tl;dr HGSS > Pt > DP

HGSS definitely has the best post-game experience in gen 4. The game never felt redundant to me. And while Platinum also had these, the fact that there were small "events" made it feel like the plot was still moving. In Platinum, they simply did not have the same impact as the ones in HGSS.

I don't think there's much argument when one says HG/SS has the superior post-game experience versus the post-game in Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum. There is just a whole lot more to do in HG/SS post-game with the advantage of having Kanto included. Besides the small missions you have to do, everything in HG/SS after defeating the Elite 4 just flows well enough to make it seem like it's not just added filler, but a continuing plot on its own. Plus, the sharp increase in levels for the Kanto Gyms makes the rise in difficulty a bit of fun.

In Platinum specifically, the post-game isn't exactly eventful. While I love the upgrades in the Fight Area and then the addition of the Battle Frontier, it all felt like the same usual after game basics we're used to.

I enjoyed the post game of HG/SS. Kanto did more than enough to satisfy my post-game cravings (gym leaders, roaming Lati, gym rematches, new Pokemon to catch). Platinum's post-game is close, and D/P didn't really offer much.

D/P/Pt provided less quantity, but the overall experience was superior to HG/SS. The latter looks good on paper, but compare Kanto in there to Kanto in FR/LG and it's painfully evident that the region has been stripped down to its bare bones. Trainers (and you) have Pokemon in their 50's and 60's but many of the wild Pokemon still have single-digit experience levels. Gee, I wonder what's wrong with that equation? To sum it up, it's like a "been there, done that, back when this area was much more lively and vibrant" type of feeling.

In contrast, D/P/Pt's postgame area is smaller, but it's also new - not the watered down version of an area you've already played through in a previous game. The wild Pokemon's levels are more in line where they should be, the area feels fresh, and hey, in Platinum you even get to dabble in real estate. Luxurious and elegant real estate.

Probably HG/SS cause it feels almost in a way that you're starting your whole adventure again with 8 more badges to collect :)
