4th Gen Problem with Fire Red and PAL Park

Well i bought a pokemon Fire Red on ebay a couple of weeks ago, and i just got it on wednsday. First thing i noticed was the cartridge was black instead red like all the other pokemon games are, but i just attributed that to being the greatest hits version or something, secondly though i start playing the game, it works, get past the first badge and save, then i switched to pokemon Pearl which both are in my DS so i could try using the Dongle method, dongle method doesnt seem to work so i just thought the game was bein finicky, turn back on fire red and the data is erased.
Now i doubt it supposed to do that. cuz it didnt happen just once but 3 times (i tried again to make sure it wasnt user error.) can anyone tell me if its a fake or not

This reminds me yesterday I was at gamestop and saw a black cartridged ruby version, I figured it was fake so I took a pic of it with my phone
