Professor Oak Team?

I want to create a competitive team based off of Professor Oak's Pokemon. I want to use both Pokemon he is seen using in the anime as well as the games. That said, I am a bit of a nub when it comes to competitive stuff and am looking for some advice. I know that this team probably won't fit in well with any serious metagame. I am just looking for a bit of solid fun as I put together an interesting off-the-wall team to play my friends and possibly convention-goers with.

The team so far is based off of Oak's team programmed into R/B/Y.

Starter not chosen by Red or Blue
    Tauros
    Gyarados
    Arcanine
    Exeggutor

There is no 6th Pokemon in this list and I don't necessarily want to be restricted to this and in different anime series he uses Dragonite, Spearow, Eevee, etc. Anyone with info on other Pokemon he has used throughout the years I would heartily encourage to post here as well. Thanks in advance!

That's a bit of an interesting idea, I'll give my two cents.

I would go with a Kanto starter (either Venusaur or Charizard because they have the better Mega Evos), and from the pre-programmed team, Gyarados would be a great addition. An Eeveelution would probably be a good idea - my favorites when it comes to battling are Vaporeon and Sylveon. Professor Oak isn't really shown with a lot of his own Pokémon, so honestly I think anything Kanto-centric will sort of get that vibe across.

Anyway, what I would personally go with:

    Venusaur (Mega)
    Gyarados
    Vaporeon/Sylveon
    Dragonite

and the other two, I'm not sure. But those 4/5 that I listed are pretty good when it comes to competitive.

I think I am going to use:

    Mega Venusaur
    Gyarados
    Arcanine
    Exeggutor
    Dragonite
    Tauros

These may not be the best metagame choices and the team has at least one downright loser (looking at you, Tauros) but I feel like its the closest I can come to my fulfilling my idea faithfully. This is supposed to be more of a joke/interesting diversion type of team anyhow. What I'm really not sure about is what each of these Pokemon should be doing on the team. Using smogon.com I've already discerned that Mega Venusaur may end up being a physical tank but I'm fairly unsure about the rest of it. I could go with the normal formula of sweepers/tanks but I'm curious if anyone has any ideas.

    Thanks again, btw.

Actually, Tauros is really freaking good. It was on my very first competitive team back in 2007 and it was a powerhouse, and often swept as much as the Lucario on my team. You'd be surprised at how good it really is.

I ran something like this set, btw (tweaked for updates)

    Tauros @ Choice Band
    Jolly Nature
    Sheer Force / Intimidate
    252 Atk / 252 Spe / 4 HP
    - Return / Retaliate
    - Earthquake / Zen Headbutt
    - Iron Head
    - Zen Headbutt / Stone Edge

I know for sure that Zen Headbutt and Iron Head get a boost from Sheer Force, I don't think Return, Retaliate, EQ, or Stone Edge do but it's worth noting.

If Tauros has Sheer Force use the following. Thanks to Sheer Force you don't take recoil damage from Life Orb.

    Tauros @ Life Orb
    Nature - Naive
    Ability - Sheer Force
    252 Atk / 4 Spa / 252 Spe
    - Return / Rock Climb
    - Zen Headbutt
    - Earthquake
    - Fire Blast

    or

    Nature - Jolly
    Ability - Sheer Force
    4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
    - Return / Rock Climb
    - Zen Headbutt
    - Earthquake
    - Iron Head

Huh, the general interwebz consensus is that he's pretty weak but with Sheer Force i can see he's pretty good. Now, time to find out how to get one with Sheer Force...

I looked at what he's had in the Anime and the list is actually pretty formidable. In addition to those already listed:

    Pidgey
    Dragonite
    Rotom
    Cyndaquil
    Totodile
    Kingler
    Bayleef
    Muk
    Snorlax
    Heracross
    Noctowl
    Donphan
    Swellow
    Torkoal
    Sceptile
    Corphish
    Staraptor
    Glalie
    Torterra
    Infernape
    Gliscor
    Gible
    Snivy
    Scraggy
    Oshawott
    Krokorok

You might be able to make a decent team outta these.
