Question about Ferrum region

Just wondering if there's been any mention or hinting at where the Ferrum region is based on? I mean I know places like Sinnoh and Unova are based on Hokkaido and New York respectively but I can't seem to find anything regarding Ferrum's origin. Any info anyone has would be greatly appreciated.

I've never heard anything about where Ferrum is supposed to be based off of either.

It might not even be based off of a real-world place really. afaik it's only the main series games that have regions like that, spin-offs usually don't seem to.
