Question about Pokemon and size.

Each specific Pokémon has a pre-determined size. If you look at a Pokémon's page on Bulbapedia you'll actually see under their photo it will have their height on there.

You're referring to the games. In the game, every Pokemon except for shinies are all the same height and weight, but it's not that way in the anime and that's what this thread is about.

I'd guess that each Pokemon has a predetermined "adult" size, kind of like a size IV, except they grow into it, a lot like humans. They grow to full size before they evolve. That's my theory at least.

I see. I never noticed Pokes that were different sizes in the anime.

We can assume that in the anime, to show pokemon individuality (Individual Values in game), bigger size means superior than the others. Maybe its a way of showing IV in anime.

In the Anime we see Pokemon of the same kind of various sizes, my question is do Pokemon evolve to different sizes or do they continue to grow?
I think they continue to grow in size after evolving.

In the 95th Jhoto League episode, there were some really BIG Pidgeys, much bigger than your ordinary Pidgey.

Well Remember Ash's Krabby, small as anything then became massive and boss after it's evolution.
But as Mahou said big pidgeys.

So I'm just going to say, It's anime there is going to be inconsistency within the drawing.
if otherwise you're talking about standard growing, Both ash and pikachu haven't grown an inch so I dare say no.

It's like Kirbychu stated earlier, the anime takes on a more realistic approach than the games. Rather than a predetermined height, each Pokémon and those of the same species is its own individual. We've seen countless of times when two Pokémon who are the same are not exactly the same size. A few examples were already said earlier such as the image with Pikachu, May's Squirtle compared to Ash's, and lets not forget Ash's Krabby compared to the Krabby Gary had caught back in the original series. I would actually think this was sort of obvious considering the numerous fish catching competitions the show has had where we had CotDs and other individuals compete for the biggest Goldeen or Magikarp.

As for when they evolve, I do think they continue to grow. Look at Charizard for instance. When Ash had arrived to the valley where his Charizard currently resides, the other Charizards were much bigger than his.

Of course, body size and evolution doesn't exactly determine one's strength, given the fact that Ash has had numerous smaller sized Pokémon and non-evolved Pokémon of his win against the aforementioned. Keep in mind, not all Pokémon have the potential of being as big as the other. It could just be all in their genes if we wanted to get technical about it.
