Quick Question and Answer Thread / Breeding Questions

In Platinum, Ditto is found in the back of Mr. Backlot's mansion. You have to talk to him and hope that he "plants" it in the garden.

Hey guys, i'm currently playing pokémon Pearl and i need to buy some vitamins (and we all know they're all way too goddamn expensive) so, do you guys know of any place/trainers/way to make some money fast?
I don't feel like going to the pokémon league 89237489234 times again either.
In pokémon FireRed battling against Parasol ladies in the Sevii Islands was a nice way to do it, In emerald, pretty much the same, are there any ladies in this game with good money to give me for a loss?

Use hold items that double your money like the Amulet Coin. That way you get big bucks no matter who you battle. The rich kids in front of backlot's mansion give a lot of money.

can some1 give me secret key by trade or mystery gift

How is size of pokémon determied?

I'm pretty sure that's entirely random and can't be determined. If I had to guess, I'd say that it has something to do with Personality Values, but I can't find anything to confirm that, so it's just a guess.

Secret Key is a Key Item and cant' be traded. Mystery Gifts can't be distributed by friends via wi-fi either.

Hey
When I try to breed Torchic the daycare man saids the two don't seem to get along, can someone please tell me why Torchic won't breed with a Ditto

The two will still breed. "The two don't seem to like each other" just means that it will take a longer while for an egg to show up since the Pokemon are likely different species, but have the same ID numbers

ok thanks for your help mate

as long as it doesn't say "The two prefer to play with other Pokemon" they will have an egg.

EV-reducing Berries

Man they're awesome/vital. I'm so glad emerald introduced these gems. Anyway, on to business...

(IN PLATINUM) 1) How long does it take for these berries to grow? and 2) How often do i have to water them to produce the maximum about of berries?

I remember i would waste so much time over-watering berries in emerald because of my ignorance, so some tips would be...great =D

Well,
it all depends on the mulches you're using and the time you have.

Mulches-
Damp Mulch: Slows the growth of berries by 25% more but keeps the soil damp longer.
Gooey Mulch: Makes unharvested berries reseed themselves more often.
Growth Mulch: Makes berries grow 25% faster, but the soil dries more quickly.
Stable Mulch: Makes berries stay on the tree longer.

Each of the EV reducing berries has a maturity rate of 32 hours and the watering cycles are 8 hours apart.
If you are using growth mulch, they'll be done in 24 hours and you will have to water them every 6 hours instead to yield the most berries. The max for each tree is 5 berries.
Damp Mulch means 40 hours of maturing time and the watering cycles are 10 hours apart.

Am i right in saying that EXP. Share still gives EVs?
Yes, EXP Share will give Evs to the Pokemon on the receiving hand. However, if the main battling Pokemon has Pokerus, or holds an EV training item, the extra EVs will not pass on to the receiving Pokemon. Both the receiving Pokemon and the main battling Pokemon will receive full EVs from the opposing Pokemon, though (ex. Geodude will give 1 DEF. EV to both the main battling Pokemon and the receiving Pokemon).

EV Help

I just started EV'ing a Growlithe and when I went to give him Protein it would only let me give him 3. I have been battleing Machop's to get his attack up. But I was wondering why it would not let me give him 10 proteins?

To add on to Jiggly's point, you should try EV training a freshly bred Growlithe. It sounds like you had already battled with thta Growlithe before EV training.
