Quick Question and Answer Thread / Breeding Questions

do you really need to be in the Toys R Us to have the event only pokemon can't you just go to any wi-fi area and recieve a Mystery Gift
nope, you have to go to Toys R Us for Arceus. unless someone else gets it and trades it over to you

Does any one know of any good place to train Pokemon that are around Lv 50-70? I just need to level up some Pokemon. The Elites is not a very good option because they range from 60-78 which is a pain to take down.

EV training isn't hard, it just takes ages...

What are you doing? I finish in no more than 30 minutes. For 252/252/6, I do 10 Vitamins, Pokerus + Power Item (results in 10 EVs for a Pokemon that normally gives 1) for the first two stats, and use a vitamin for the last stat.

Could someone post for me the EVs given during one round of the elite 4 and cynthia, while using an EXP. share? I could do it myself but I'm sure it's been posted before and it's kind of an inconvenience.

Does anyone know the min level that the pkmn has to be for the serebii 4th gen IV calculator to function correctly?

100. Everything else is imprecise.

I'm a noob, few questions about stuff (extended answers)

Ok, so I literally haven't played pokemon since gold/silver came out and i beat it in like a day and stopped playing. I knew yellow really well, but now i have diamond and it's a lot more complex. I'm understanding most of it, but I still have a few questions.

I get the whole pal park thing, so does that mean all the other pokemon not found in diamond are imported via gb/gba (or traded from those special ones in platinum), including the legendaries? Because i have the 3 legendary birds and mew (i have the shiny mew2 card you get when u go to the first pokemon movie still, i was like 7, it was cool :P but i never figured out how to catch it in-game) on my yellow, can i transfer those over to pal park now? I don't think i have lugia on my silver, but if i get it can i transfer that 2?

In yellow the pokemon was determined by the DV stats, but it seems those have changed A LOT in diamond, can someone explain to me the new system? (i got how the stat xp works in diamond so don't waste your time)

Oh and, is there a way to check you stat xp of your pokemon in diamond?

thanks in advance

Wrong. Anything before Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald is incompatible with the later generations. You cannot trade/palpark from the earlier 2 generation games, that is, red, blue, yellow, gold, silver, crystal. I'll expand when I get the chance, unless someone else beats me to it.

Wow, DVs and Stat XP. You really do know your stuff. Kudos to you.

Unfortunately, with all the new changes made the the DV, and stat XP system (not to mention all the other things added) all the Gameboy/Gameboy Color games are incompatible with the GBA/DS games.

DVs haven't changed that much. All that's changed is that they're now called IVs and that they have a max of 31 instead of 15 and that HP is no longer dependent on the other IVs.

There is a way to know what your EVs (stat XP) are, but you need to know your DV/IVs first. Just plug them and your Pokemon's stats into this and hit "Calculate EPs required".

Does this help?

I don't know what DVs are, I guess it's the older versions' version of EVs, IVs.

IVs are stats randomly generated when you first catch a pokemon. 31 IVs are best while 0 are worst. IVs are added onto your pokemon's base stats.

EVs are stats you gain by battling. You can have a max of 510 EVs, however, only 508 of that will actually be used, because for every 4 EVs you gain, you gain 1 stat point. You can have a max of 252 EVs in one stat, tacking another 63 stat points to a stat, if my math is correct. Each pokemon you battle gives a different number and type of EVs. Look up pokemon on sites such as Serebii.net to see which pokemon drop what kind of EVs.

Ninja'd.

One thing people always fail to mention, which causes mass confusion, is that its 1 extra stat point at level 100 (0.5 at level 50, 0.25 at level 25 and so on).

But really the main difference between EVs and stat XP is that each species Pokemon is set to give certain EVs instead of just automatically giving their base stats.

Does this help?
Yeah that really cleared things up, and why I didn't understand what ev and iv was xD
But... ah :( both my older versions are useless.

since i have your attention, another quick question.
btw: this isn't exactly diamond related
i'm glad that the creators where able to fix the clone glitch when switching boxes thing. they did a really nice job on that in diamond. anyways, does ruby/sapphire/emerald have that fixed also? since they're compatible with the pal, park both games kind of have to be clone-glitch-free.

if not, i can just swing by my friends house (still plays pokemon) and pick up his sapphire (actually it mighta been an emerald, but i know it wasn't a ruby) and abuse the heck out of master ball cloning. because that jumpy little devil mesprit is uncatchable and i want to save my 1 masterball for arceus when i go to toys r us in 2 saturdays

I need some help with PKRS

I have two pokemon that are pokerus infected, and i put them in my pc cause i have no idea what to do... should i try my hand at EV training? or what? it isnt terribly hard is it?

and also isnt there a way to spread it to other pokemon?

Now is the time to do EV training, because you get double EV points and it goes a lot faster. To spread Pokerus, keep one infected Pokemon in your party and go battle, As you battle, the Pokerus will spread to other members in your party. The Pokerus "goes away" in 2-3 days, meaning that you'll still enjoy its benefits, but it will no longer spread.

Keep that second infected Pokemon in your PC because Pokerus will remain active indefinitely as long as it's in your PC storage. Take it out only when you want to infect other Pokemon. As for EV training itself, it's not hard. Just defeat Pokemon that give you the EV's you want and run from everything else. Make sure that the Pokemon you want to EV train either holds the Exp. Share or appears sometime during each battle.

Ugh, I have given Riolu the Soothe Bell, battled him many times, gave him poffins, berries, etc. I CAN'T EVOLVE HIM!? Help.
