Do you have somewhere you go to get away from things when they are too hectic or just plain annoying? This could be a place that nobody may know about or even a out in plain sight place that you go to in order to gather your thoughts or just be alone.

For me, there are a few parks near my house. Whenever I'm feeling overwhelmed by something or just need out I always go and walk around or read a book. It typically helps calm my mind and puts me in a better mood.

For low-grade annoyance, I go to the shower. Showers are great for getting away from everything because you don't have to make the effort of going far and at the same time nobody can disturb you because you are naked and that is therefore inappropriate.

For higher-grade annoyance, I go to my car and just drive somewhere. Usually I go and pick up my friend and we go for slushies at 7Eleven or McDonalds or just go driving around. So there's no real one place, we just drive around the city.

Usually if it's a minor annoyance and there's only a few people causing it, most of the time it's my step dad, i'll go up to my room and carry on as normal just in a different location. If it's a larger annoyance and I can't get away from it in my room then I'll go out for a walk. There's some woodland that's not even five minutes away from my house that I like walking through when it's quiet. But if the local chavs have arrived then there's a country park about ten minutes away from my house in the opposite direction that tends to be quieter most of the time.

    First: Shower.

If that doesn't work: To the bed!

If that doesn't work.......to the video game room!

IF THAT doesn't work.....well, I've never gone as far as the video game room.

That place is no place; the sense that staying on the move is a good way to avoid things extends to the extraphysical, so I just walk about outside, away from the noise of roads, until I feel better.

I go to my room, turn on the TV and usually put earphones in and sit listening to music or browsing the net.

I go to the cinema. It's a wonderfully dark room full of strangers where entertainment is shoved at me for about two hours. If I had a problem with people before I came in to the screening then, provided the film is at least half-way decent, I'll probably come out feeling refreshed and ready to face the world.

If, for some reason, I'm not near a cinema or there's nothing good on, I'll probably just go to my room, or maybe have a lil' walk. Walks are really good at clearing my head, but they're definitely not exclusive to me! My room is a sort of sanctuary, but I spend a fair bit of time in it anyway, so its effects as a 'Bat Cave' are less than that of a cinema nowadays. Still, they both have their uses.

I go to the bathroom. Not the shower specifically since I have a regular bathing routine that I don't like to mess up, but just the bathroom. People generally leave you alone when you're on the pot. I've been known to sit on the bathroom floor for half and hour or more with a book just to get away from everything.

Outdoors is fine, too, provided my allergies aren't acting up.

Well, I live on my own so my room is normally where I go, but I do have places around Bristol that are hidden away and have beautiful views, which I sometimes go and just listen to relaxing music there if I need to think about things.
