I'm thinking Walrein would be most viable for your sixth slot because STAB'd Ice attacks do a lot more damage to Drake's and Steven's pokemon than non-STAB Ice attacks. Gyrados is also a good choice for his compatibility with Fire and Ground attacks, making short work of your type's two major weaknesses. :P

Okay, I've come to the realization that there are only, like, FOUR Steel-types I can get in the game, which does not bode well for success... So, as much as I hate switching back, I think I'm gonna have to go back to my original plan of Flying-types. I'll be restarting today or tomorrow... Sorry for the inconvenience. @w@;;

Okay, I've decided that I won't do this challenge, as I am starting in Emerald with a normal runthrough. However, I don't think that you can get an electric type before Slateport, and the daedline for them is Dewford? Sorry for posting....

Timbjerr's Poison Monotype Challenge - Hoenn Edition

Update:
-traversed through the Fiery Path and cleared the following areas of trainers.
-Zubat evolved into Golbat.
-arrived in Fallarbor Town.
-continued on to rt.114 to catch the final pokemon for my team, Seviper.
-after capturing one, I immediately dropped Gulpin in the PC in favor of Seviper.
-levelled up Seviper to catch him up to the rest of the team.
-went through Meteor Falls and looped back around to the Mt. Chimney area via Rustboro City and Verdanturf Town
-Owned Archie on my third attempt. (His Mightyena is a lot stronger than I remember...)
-Travelled down the Jagged Pass, clearing it of trainers.
-Golbat evolved into Crobat. (This surprised me...I imagine its happiness would've taken a hit after having just lost to Archie twice in a row.)
-arrived in Lavaridge Town, planning on grinding a little more before taking on the gym.

I'm disappointed Tentacool hasn't learned a single water-type attack yet. Hopefully he will in the next two levels because that would make this gym a LOT easier. >_>

Also, I'd like suggestions for humorous and/or badass nicknames for my eventual party of Crobat/Seviper/Tentacruel/Roselia/Weezing/Muk. I'm no good with making my own nicknames. XD

I would personaly take Wailord out s you have no pure water types, to make best use of the other types.

I go Sharpedo, swampert,ludicolo,Relicanth/lanturn,Gyarados,Walrein. If it were upto me.

@timbjerr, yeah i have lol. Plus i chose sapphire because i knew that Lunatone would be more use than stupid solrock. I mean that thing doesnt even act psychic.

anyways i started and so far im training My aron (cera) for Dewford Gym.

Am i allowed to keep marshtomp? as this ones gpnna be VERY hard as i cant get another party member til after the 3rd gym.

ok ive just beaten Mauville's gym leader. and caught Nosepass(zappy) at Level 19, My team is now made from Cera(aron) level 22 and Zappy(nosepass) level 19. Pretty soon, ill have a slugma and Lunatone :)

So I restarted today on my Flying-type challenge. Hurray! Flying is one of my favorite types so I'm happy. C:


-Started off, got Treecko as a starter... Figuring I'd make things easy for myself and give my rival a Blaziken that will be quite easy for me to kill with Flying types. I named my Treecko Stupid... I really don't like Treecko at all :p
-Did all the beginning crap stuff, fought rival, etc.
-Went and caught a Wurmple right off the bat, as soon as I got some Pokeballs. Named it Fliege, the German word for "fly", since I'll be evolving it into a Beautifly xD
-Searched for a Wingull and caught one after maybe ten minutes. Named it Wasser, the German word for "water". (I think you can all sense this trend here... My username is German too! I love German C: ) Dumped Stupid into the PC
-Spent probably half an hour searching for a Surskit to evolve into a Masquerain, then decided it was a waste of time since as much as I like Masquerain, it IS a bit on the useless side... xD; Sorry Masquerain :C
-Grinded Fliege and Wasser to level 8. Fliege evolved into Silcoon! :D
-Saved my game and took a break to play Diamond. n.n

Will be catching a Taillow, which will probably be a big part of my team later in the game, probably tomorrow. My team-to-be will probably be something like this:

-Defeated Flannery
-received the Go-Goggles from May
-withdrew Gulpin and taught him Strength, which I used to acquire TM06 Toxic from the Fiery Path
-traversed through the desert beating every trainer in my path
-Gulpin evolved into Swalot...not that i matters. :P
-took the Claw Fossil even though it doesn't matter XD
-looped around to Petalburg City, but moar training has to be done before I'm ready for the gym.
