Update: Beat the third gym. Currently training a Zangoose.

You get Torchic before Dewford. There is no rule against using starters.

Okay, so you want a fire type before dewford town?
Umm, you cant sadly =\ You will have to wait till you can get to the desert arround route 111 and Lavaridge Town and Fallarbor Town. Get as much fire types you can there, there will not be allot of fire pokemon :(

You get Torchic before Dewford. There is no rule against using starters.

There you go, your 6 pokemon in your party right there :D


btw, i had to start over because my game frose and I had to start over from a level 14 Torchic .. I am so sad ..

Also can I catch other pokemon as long as I don't use them? (To send them to Platinum later)

Yes, you can. I'm doing that with mine as well -- neither Magikarp nor Nincada are flying types but their evos are, so it's fine to use them, though try and use them as little as possible until they evolve 8D

And yes, you can catch as many Pokemon as you like, but don't use them in battle if they're not the type you picked. c:
