Rain Team

First off, know that relying on anything with lesser than 60% chance of happening is usually bad.

Oh, Gyarados, Heracross, Mixmence weaknesses. Add a Physical wall.

I'm keeping my Sniper Kingdra. Working on the physical wall.

I've told you it's too broad of a question. What sets are you going to use and what are their roles going to be?

Oh, sorry. There's the two I mentioned in a previous post, plus another poster's fixes on Bronzong's EVs.

Donphan @ Leftovers; Sturdy
Impish; 4 Attack, 252 Defense, 252 HP
Earthquake
Ice Shard
Knock Off
Rapid Spin

Bronzong @ Leftovers; Levitate
Relaxed; 252 HP, 114 Defense, 144 Sp Defense
Gyro Ball
Earthquake
Hypnosis
Stealth Rock

You see now then, if you dislike our suggestions, there is no point in posting a "rate my team" thread, see now?

That Kingdra is the only thing I'm going to keep as it is, unless you have a better moveset for its Sniper function. Everything else I can change, as long as it stays a Rain Dance team.

But that Kingdra doesn't fit in at all. If you want to use that Kingdra then make the team work around it, not Kingdra work around the team (and that's currently not working)

How doesn't Sniper Kingdra fit? It has Hydro Pump, which gets boosted by the rain.

You need Agility passed to Kingdra to use a sniper set, yet with Swift Swim he can become quite the beast with Choice Specs equipped

Kingdra@Choice Specs
Swift Swim
Modest Nature
EVS: 240 HP, 252 Sp Atk, 16 Spd
-Hydro Pump/Surf
-Draco Meteor
-Hidden Power Electric
-Dragon Pulse/Ice Beam

Hydro Pump is a 2HKO on Blissey while in Rain. That is something to be feared for a UU/BL Pokemon

There is also this Kingdra set that works well

Kingdra@Life Orb
Swift Swim
Naughty Nature
EVs: 252 Sp Atk, 240 Atk, 16 Spd
-Waterfall
-Surf/Hydro Pump/Dragon Pulse
-Hidden Power Electric
-Rain Dance/Surf/Hydro Pump/Dragon Pulse

Waterfall for the Blissey once again, hits Blissey harder but still only a 2HKO, but allows the option of switching between moves.

Please no Sniper Kingdra, Swift Swim is alot better in a Rain Dance team

Well, if you're sure...all right. I'll edit the team in a moment.

the great thing about rain dance teams is that they can be as random as you want them to be.

Yeah, I can be pretty darn random, all right.

Yeah but you rely on an Agility pass which takes too many turns to set up.

Smason is right, you can be random like you would on a normal team, you just have to be good at dealing with bulky Waters and also things do have to fit together well like any team or it's game over.

well what i meant when i said random is being less concerned with having a certain team structure, such as a certain amount of tanks/walls or resistances. with a rain dance team, you're just going in for the sweep.

Yeah but that's just my beef with this team...all the sweepers rely on the rain yet none of them can really use it well.

In that case, I may as well just request a team from Tortured_Soul, since he's doing the weather team guides. Honestly, I can't build a team of my own to save my life. :(

It takes time to get good, the only way is to learn from your mistakes and keep getting better.

Anyways if you want to improve your team building skills, a weather team probably isn't the place to start.

All right. Where should I start?

Well I find it helpful to start with a strong defensive foundation, as many people like SkarmBliss (I don't recommend Skarmory though)

I'd find a physical wall, a special wall, and a bulky water that resist a good amount of things and can take hits from most sweepers. This can be tough in this generation though so you practically have to run a stall team to wall everything.

Interesting...What do you mean by "bulky water"?

Bulky waters are pokemon that in ADV were physical stoppers. The water type has no physical weaknesses and was used for that. Suicune, Swampert, and Milotic are three of the best examples. They can't just be any water though, they have to be able to take hits. Without Bulky Waters Cbmence would have dominated the ADV era and other physical dominating forces.

This gen thunderpunch and crap is physical, so I prefer Swampert because physical grass moves you just don't see besides torterra and Breloom who Swampert has no business with anyways. Swampert can also PHaze, set up SR, and unlike other Bulky waters is immune to electric attacks and provides a useful rock resist.

But really any bulky water will do. You also need one to stop Heatran, who is a pest to say the least. Honestly I'd choose your walls first and choose a bulky water according to what walling you already have. So if you have Hippowdon, you probably don't need Swampert (though there are exceptions to that particular example).

Either way I'd start with walling. There aren't many special walls so we'd better start there. We have Blissey, Regice, Snorlax, Articuno (<3), Cresselia, etc.
