EDIT: Actually a cardinal rule of gothicism is that you don't label yourself since it contradicts the principles of gothicism...which is simply being a free thinker. But that's all off topic XD
I won't get into that 'cause this would take forever to explain and it gives me a headache, I've had to explain it far too many times <_<. You have your own opinion I have my own and personally I am what I am you make of that what you will. So let's leave it at before this gets messy.

Anyway, yeah there are also a lot of black people who like rock over rap. I know a few who have told me so themselves and it doesn't make them any different. You're right Blue, good music is good music in the end.

So many things wrong:

1)Now you are being racist? You dislike Rock because it is white people playing it?

2)Those people that died "for" rap didn't have to die for it. If people weren't so ghetto and stupid they wouldn't have died.

3)Yeah they had to suffer hardships, so do alot of people, but if you grow past your hardships you don't have to remind us about it by making bunk, rude language filled songs. If they do that, they are no better than what they grew up as.

4)"Rappers know the meaning of pain unlike rock" Why? That is a fairly general statement, and a horrible one at that. Seriously.

5)" Well let's look at it this way, they're not like us"For making most of that cruddy music, they become just like us. If they are so poor and miserable why do they kill each other? If they are so poor why do they wear five pounds of "bling"?

6)"In order to rap you need to meet a certain rule, that's to have suffered" Now you are making crud up, horrible statement. It is like I am arguiing with a 9 year old. Saying that all rappers have suffered their whole life just makes me angry.

Good god.

1) I didn't say this statement out of being a racist, I said this statement just like how most of you people say black people rap.

2)They weren't stupid, you know usually when one gets angry one does another to hurt the other, I don't know maybe that's just me but if you know someone killed someone that you loved you'd try to get back at them, no?

3)Well, do you think they know any better? They were born from a bad community, you can't blame them, you might as well blame the community then.

4)How so? If you look at almost ALL of the rappers, they all suffered because they were really poor or they were mistreated by others, I mean what about Green Day and your other rock bands? Sure they must've suffered, but if you read most of the rapper's profile, they know the definition of pain. They say the greatest form of respect is to acknowledge one's pain.

5)First of all, it's not cruddy music in my opinion. See #3. They wear 5 pounds of "bling" because like I said I think they know how life is like and I also think that most rappers believe that once they have an opportunity they seize it at once.

6)I will admit that this statement wasn't exactly the best choice of words, however most of the popular rappers have suffered. Maybe, if you had researched some of the rapper's background then you would know what I mean (Which I really doubt). The " It is like I am arguiing with a 9 year old." line is rather amusing, seeing how the person i'm trying to debate can't even spell "arguing" right.

Now if you still want to continue arguing with me please do so by Private Messaging (and I also don't want this thread locked), because all we're doing is wasting bandwidth.

Good Day.

---You cleary did, you stated that rock is just a bunch of white guys screaming at a mic, plain and simple.

"2)They weren't stupid, you know usually when one gets angry one does another to hurt the other, I don't know maybe that's just me but if you know someone killed someone that you loved you'd try to get back at them, no?"
---When I get angry I don't attack and kill people. And if someone killed somebody else for revenge, than the person who got killed had to have killed somebody. Murder is wrong, and people who do shtuff like that are thugs and criminals.

"3)Well, do you think they know any better? They were born from a bad community, you can't blame them, you might as well blame the community then."
---The community is only so much. You are your own person, you make choices in your life. You can change your course.

"4)How so? If you look at almost ALL of the rappers, they all suffered because they were really poor or they were mistreated by others, I mean what about Green Day and your other rock bands? ---Why is Green Day the only attack on me people can muster up? Suffering is a moot point, alot of people suffer in our world, and alot of these suffering people don't make it to where they can wear 5 pounds of gold on their necks. If these rappers were SO good of people, and are so awesome from breaking away from their "bad lives" than they wouldnt spend thousands on jewelry, they'd give it back to the community.

"5)First of all, it's not cruddy music in my opinion. See #3. They wear 5 pounds of "bling" because like I said I think they know how life is like and I also think that most rappers believe that once they have an opportunity they seize it at once."
---It isn't even music! It is just poetry set to a beat. Music is instruments blaring, vocal talent, good lyrics. And most rap lyrics these days stink, with the exceptions of the classics...and if rap is mostly lyrics...and the lyrics stink...well you get the point.

"6)I will admit that this statement wasn't exactly the best choice of words, however most of the popular rappers have suffered. ---I hit the "i" key twice, whoops. Big deal, so now you are out of REAL facts and decide to attack my spelling? When case and point, I've most likely made less spelling errors than you or your rappa ghetto supafreaks.

"I don't want this thread locked, we are wasting bandwith"
This thread was made for the sole purpose of comparing the two, this is exactly what I have done thus far.

Have a good day.

1) Actually I did, if people can say rap is just about black people who can talk really fast then it's the same attack on the "white rockers".

2) You say things like that, but you never know how hard life can be once you lose something important to your life. Even the most honorable people can't control their emotions, right?

3) Hah, the community is only so much you say? Imagine living in a neighborhood where you see people getting hurt or hearing screams everyday. I know this because I live around L.A. and no you can't change your course because your saying this out of your opinion but i'm saying this out of my experience.

4) Well unlike you, I don't know any popular rock bands, but a famous rock band these days are Green Day, no? Tch, you act like you've never suffered in your life (which i'm pretty sure you have, because everyone does) if you can't acknowledge what suffering does to a person, I believe that you can't call a being a human.

5) We all have different perspectives about music, I acknowledge how you feel about music, but I believe music is much more than just lyrics, vocals and etc. It's one's soul and how much dedication they put into the music defines music.

6) Not really, because this was your last statement I felt that I had to correct you on this one. That was rather uncliche but ok, and I'm not even going to bother checking to see rather i've made any spelling errors.

Thank you, I will have a good day.

I love debating.

"Actually I did, if people can say rap is just about black people who can talk really fast then it's the same attack on the "white rockers"."
---Nobody here has stated rap is just a bunch of black guys. Only you have made racial remarks, and that is very disapointing.

"2) You say things like that, but you never know how hard life can be once you lose something important to your life. Even the most honorable people can't control their emotions, right?"
---My life hasn't always been easy. Alot of times I've been thinking of doing drastic stuff, and ultimately the decision was mine. And each time I chose an alternative route.

"3) Hah, the community is only so much you say? Imagine living in a neighborhood where you see people getting hurt or hearing screams everyday. I know this because I live around L.A. and no you can't change your course because your saying this out of your opinion but i'm saying this out of my experience."
---Yes, the community is only so much. I grew up in Freeport Illinois, a dirt poor, horrible gang ridden town and I came out OK.

"4) Well unlike you, I don't know any popular rock bands, but a famous rock band these days are Green Day, no? ---Again you make no sense. I don't act like suffering doesn't happen, I even mentioned that suffering happens to alot of people. I have suffered in my life, but that doesn't make me violent.

"5) We all have different perspectives about music, I acknowledge how you feel about music, but I believe music is much more than just lyrics, vocals and etc. It's one's soul and how much dedication they put into the music defines music."
---That is a PART of music, heart and soul, but music without instruments is poetry.

"6) Not really, because this was your last statement I felt that I had to correct you on this one. That was rather uncliche but ok, and I'm not even going to bother checking to see rather i've made any spelling errors."
---Erm...uncliche means it is original ;)

1) Well, you may have misunderstood what I meant by that statement but that's what I truly meant, if you feel offended I apologize for that statement, but I mean no harm by that remark.

2) Sadly, not everyone can match up to your expectations.

3) We're all different and people make wrong choices sometimes, I bet even you've made a wrong decision in your life.

4) Even though you don't lash out your suffering on others does not mean others do the same as you, like I said everyone's different and you can't really blame them for what they are, can you?

5) Who needs instruments when you have a beat and verses, at least that's what I believe, like I said we all have different perspectives of how we view music as, there is no right or wrong answer.

6) Uncliche isn't really a word, but it's the opposite term of cliche.
Cliche
1.A trite or overused expression or idea: ?Even while the phrase was degenerating to clich?in ordinary public use... scholars were giving it increasing attention? (Anthony Brandt).
2.A person or character whose behavior is predictable or superficial: ?There is a young explorer... who turns out not to be quite the cliche expected? (John Crowley). (information from dictionary.com)

So that means your last line was rather odd.

Aargh. I've seen this question before. Can I just say LP/JZ? XD Well, I listen to both, but y'all know rock is tops for me... although I'm a big fan of punk-hop XD

XD, yeah but it's weird how LP only sings so little of the song, but I agree it is a great album.

Well, a real band needs instruments.

Rock is crap. I hate Everything Rock,or "punk". I Hate Green Day,I hate "Good" Charlotte,I hate Manson, and My Chemical Romance...god,why would you use chemicals to find romance? Anyway,Rap is #1 in my book,if you check Billboard.com and check the top singles,CANDY SHOP-50 Cent ft. Oliva is at #1,and it's on the Hip-Hop singles, most of the songs are 50 Cent/The Game.

1) It's True. Most of the Rock/Punk Genre ARE white people screaming their lungs out for idiots who jump around with their pictures.
2)You've just made an enemy out of me. What the hell do you mean by If people weren't so ghetto and stupid they wouldn't have died. You dumass,They were raised in the Ghetto(most of them,anyway,50 didn't)and most of them are actually smart, smarter then you.

Would you rather me say:
If they weren't so stupid?! Only an idiot will resort to violence. And again you re-asess the racism. You guys need to be less racist, nobody here is making the claim that rap is only black people. Only you have brought up the color, and to me skin color doesn't matter. I've got a saying: rap is crap ;). Just kidding, I won't resort to low brow insults as this rap fan has indeed done.

"You dumass,They were raised in the Ghetto(most of them,anyway,50 didn't)and most of them are actually smart, smarter then you."
Ooooh another insult. Isn't that against the rules here? And I'm quite sure I am a fair bit more intelligent than most rappers, seeing as I have the ability to use grammar, and proper english.

"nyway,Rap is #1 in my book,if you check Billboard.com and check the top singles,CANDY SHOP-50 Cent ft. Oliva is at #1,and it's on the Hip-Hop singles, most of the songs are 50 Cent/The Game."
For every rap song that is on that billboard, you will find two or three rock songs across it.

my closing statement is this: Rap is NOT a musical genre, it is a form of lyrical poetry set to a beat. Nothing more, nothing less. But when you compare rap to instrument driven music you are comparing two different things.

Hm...Well I forgot if it was Numb/Encore or Encore/Numb. Since it was my cousin's CD and I havent listened to her CD in a long time, I forgot what it said on the case XD

LatiosMaster, You, like KLS, made a completely racist remark (even though he didnt mean it to sound so racist). Dont swear and dont flame people. Or else you will get flamed back and get pissed and then a flame war will start.

Jasonresno, LatiosMaster was correct by saying that most rappers were born and raised in the ghetto. However, not all of them turned out to become ghetto, like the people they lived around. Biggie Smalls is a perfect example. He was born and raised in one of the toughest parts of Brooklyn. But he still kept going on with his life, no matter what happened around him. Though he hustled for a couple of years. But it was only for a little while and he did that just so he can help put food on the table, and survive in such a society like he lived in. But he never did anything to hurt anyone. Every other rapper is much more ghetto than he ever was. Yet, even though he was a great person, he was still murdered. So dont jump to conclusions and say that rappers died because they're ghetto.

Flaming Torchic, why didnt you close this? XD

EDIT:

"You dumass,They were raised in the Ghetto(most of them,anyway,50 didn't)and most of them are actually smart, smarter then you."

They use such language so they can sell records and make money, being that the music buisness is about making music and selling records.

6) How is it original, when cliche means predictable, the opposite of predictable is unpredictable. Unpredictable, when I said odd, i meant it that way.

5) But rap doesn't have a band.

and LatiosMaster, I know some people dislike rock but it might offend others who like rock so I suggest that you use a different choice of words.
I happen to listen to a bit of some rock and I must say it is rather soothing.(i.e. Jimmy Eats World, Goo Goo Dolls)

If you can tell me what I'm doing so wrong please do tell me what I can do to make it make sense to you. I'm merely replying to your questions.

I'd like to see no flaming here...

Rock vs. Rap... they aren't topping each other, they are just good in thier own right! ~__~ People have different opinions anyways.. But that doesn't mean you have to flame a certain genre of music because you don't like it! xD; ~origin
