Feedback is much appreciated. I just beat the Elite Four for the second time as well as Red, and just caught Kyogre. The only thing left to do is complete my National Poke'dex and keep leveling up my team, but what is the best way to have my team gain experience? And what moves should be replacedm if any?

  • Well first of all you've got 6 physical Pokemon and 4 flying Pokemon, which you'll probably want to change, but it's up to you which one you want to change. You should use some special Pokemon such as Gengar, Milotic, Jolteon, Alakazam, etc.

Your Gyarados is running 4 special attacks and he should really only be using physical attacks like Waterfall, Ice Fang, Earthquake, Stone Edge, Bounce, etc. The set I always use is:

    Dragon Dance
    Earthquake
    Waterfall
    Stone Edge

If you want to start again with a better nature then go for Adamant or Jolly. These are the natures you generally want on a physical sweeper. Modest or Timid are what you want on a special sweeper. Dragonite is another Pokemon who can make good use of Dragon Dance. The set I use is:

    Dragon Dance
    Earthquake
    Outrage
    Fire Punch

Again, if you're going to start training again you want a Jolly or Adamant nature. Your Golem isn't bad, but Rock Climb needs to be replaced, which can be awkward in-game, but if you're going to play on wi-fi, then you definately don't want Rock Climb. The set I use is:

    Rock Polish
    Earthquake
    Stone Edge
    Explosion

Golem has other options such as Stealth Rock, which you should consider since you don't have a Pokemon with Stealth Rock on your team. I can't say a whole lot about the other Pokemon, because I've never used any of them, but you should check Smogon for any other movesets you might want.

  • Phazon. Looking at this team. This is most likely a in-game team, not a competitive team.

Sorry, yes, this is an in-game team. Or at least it was. I just finished the game pretty much, so besides completing my pokedex my main goal now is to make my team the best it can be. I'm not trying to be really competitive or EV train my pokemon, I just want the best movesets possible for the six pokemon I already have. HMs like Cut and Rock Climb I only had because I needed them in the game. It's handy to have instead of constantly changing HM slave pokemon, but if necessary I guess I can delete the HMs and give them better moves. I want to be able to battle online somewhat competitively, but mostly just to have fun.

    Gyarados (Red Shiny)
    Level: 61
    Nature: Hasty
    Ability: Intimidate
    Item: Mystic Water
    Stats:
    HP 193
    Attack 180
    Defense 126
    Sp. Atk 115
    Sp. Def 133
    Speed 137

    Moves:
    Surf
    Blizzard
    Hyper Beam
    Hydro Pump

I'm not a big fan of Hydro Pump and Hyper Beam. Hydro Pump has low accuracy and Hyper Beam = Re-charge = Fail. Dragon Rage/Pulse? Maybe Flamethrower or T-bolt. It can learn them. Replace Blizzard for Ice Beam.

    Golem
    Level: 61
    Nature: Sassy
    Ability: Rock Head
    Item: Soft Sand
    Stats:
    HP 191
    Attack 164
    Defense 188
    Sp. Atk 101
    Sp. Def 104
    Speed 77

    Moves:
    Earthquake
    Explosion
    Stone Edge
    Rock Climb
I'm not particularly a fan of HMs of main pokemon. Change it for something like, maybe Double-Edge.

    Victreebel
    Level: 61
    Nature: Naughty
    Ability: Chlorophyll
    Item: Miracle Seed
    Stats:
    HP 191
    Attack 178
    Defense 107
    Sp. Atk 151
    Sp. Def 85
    Speed 126

    Moves:
    Giga Drain
    Cut
    Leaf Storm
    Sleep Powder
Really? Fail. Change it for something like Rest. That way, you can heal your pokemon and use a sleep healing item. If you keep you Victreebel at that level you could use it as a sleep stall set for the elite four!

    Dragonite
    Level: 61
    Nature: Naive
    Ability: Inner Focus
    Item: Expert Belt
    Stats:
    HP 207
    Attack 194
    Defense 150
    Sp. Atk 150
    Sp. Def 134
    Speed 138

    Moves:
    Draco Meteor
    ExtremeSpeed
    Superpower
    Ice Beam
    Everything seems good here.

    Pidgeot
    Level: 62
    Nature: Lonely
    Ability: Keen Eye
    Item: Sharp Beak
    Stats:
    HP 192
    Attack 146
    Defense 107
    Sp. Atk 109
    Sp. Def 102
    Speed 135

    Moves:
    Mirror Move
    FeatherDance
    Fly
    Air Slash
    Good here.

    Ho-Oh
    Level: 64
    Nature: Careful
    Ability: Pressure
    Item: Flame Plate
    Stats:
    HP 223
    Attack 205
    Defense 133
    Sp. Atk 159
    Sp. Def 239
    Speed 132

    Moves:
    Brave Bird
    Thunder
    Punishment
    Fire Blast

I hate legends on a pokemon team. Swap it for somethind like Houndoom or Arcanine. If Houndoom:
    Fire Fang
    Embargo
    Crunch
    A move of your choice.
If Arcanine, I havce no clue roflcopter.

  • the team seems good for a start, but i would seriously suggest in making a physical moveset for the gyara. he also makes a great dragon dance user for battles. try this:
    Red Gyarados
    Moves:
    Waterfall
Bounce (Battle Frontier move 48BP i think)
    Earthquake
    Dragon Dance
    Item: Leftovers
if you want to go special, then this is a good idea too
    Red Gyarados
    Moves:
    Ice Beam
    Thunderbolt
    Flamethrower
    Surf
    Item:Choice Specs

As for Ho-oh, I like this moveset:
    Ho-oh
    Sacred Fire
    Brave Bird (Heart Scale Move)
    Earthquake
    Punishment
    Item: Choice Band
Careful Nature is Amazing for Ho-oh, His Special Defense is one of the best in the game, and the special attack is useless on the moveset that I mentioned

If you like my advice, tell me what you think, I'd love to hear the success of your pokemon :)

Ok, based on what you guys said and what's on Smogon, this is what I think I'm gonna change. Tell me what you think.

    Gyarados
    Replace Blizzard with Ice Fang
Replace Hyper Beam with Dragon Dance
Replace Hydro Pump with Aqua Tail

    Golem
Replace Rock Climb with Rock Polish

    Victreebel
Might want to replace Giga Drain, but I don't know with what
Will probably replace Cut, but I don't know with what yet and I still need it for the field for a little

    Ho-Oh
Replace Fire Blast with Sacred Fire
    Replace Punishment with Whirlwind
    Replace Thunder with Roost
    Attach a Life Orb
