Hello everyone! I'm not sure if it's mandatory to make an introduction thread, but thought I might as well.

Basically, I'm a guy in his late twenties who used to play Pokemon back when it first came out. I stopped playing a couple of years after Pokemon Gold came out, then a few years back started playing again when I bought Platinum. (I haven't bought Ruby or Sapphire yet but plan to get Omega Ruby soon). Basically, I've just started playing Platinum again and also just received my copy of Heart Gold today, and I'm having an absolute blast getting back into Pokemon. I don't know why I gave it up, I guess I just got tired of it. I've also started watching the anime again from scratch. I stopped watching sometime around Johto League Champions, though I've seen a few episodes of Advanced. Needless to say I have a lot of catching up to do. My favourite season is the Orange Islands (I wish Pokemon Orange had been a game, but it wouldn't have worked since there wasn't a full new generation of pokemon out). Recently I watched an episode of Pokemon X & Y and I cannot stand Ash's new voice actor. Or James' new voice actor, I think they sound terrible. I also think the quality of the anime has degraded since the old days, but that's another issue.

You might not like me very much. I'm quite opinionated and a little bit of an oddball, I believe it has something to do with being an Aquarius (I believe in astrology, most of you probably don't), and I'm a socially isolated sort of person, with "issues" in the head, but that's just the way it is right now.

I actually came here to ask a question about X & Y, but hopefully I'll stick around. I must confess I'm a bit of a snob who looks down on "new" Pokemon fans and I argue with them a lot, always saying stuff like "we're the reason Pokemon became popular, WE'RE the original fans!!! I was playing Pokemon when you were still a baby, or before you were born!! BLAAAH!!!"

Sorry for the rant, and thanks for taking the time to read this pathetic pile of socially insecure nonsense.

P.S. My favourite Pokemon are (in no particular order): Farfetch'd, Gengar, Arcanine, Mightyena, Ho-Oh, Dragonite, Entei, Umbreon, Leafeon, Hypno and Crobat.. but that's just the ones I can think of from the top of my head.

Also an Original fan in my Late twenties and I still really only play gen 1-3. We have a DS and some of the DS pokemon games still but I prefer the older ones. Us in our late twenties actually were the original fans that made it big and I honestly never thought it would last this long but I am glad it did.

    Welcome!

Awesome! Always glad to meet another fan my age! I'm also glad Pokemon has lasted this long.. I wonder if they'll ever get to as many as 1000 pokemon?

Introduction threads aren't really required, but they are recommended because it's always cool to get to know the new faces. Aside from that, welcome to the forums!

How are you enjoying Platinum and HeartGold so far? Both are really good games and the 4th Generation in general is a good time to get back into Pokemon. Any plans on eventually getting around to 5th Gen? I know some hated Black & White (but at least Black 2 & White 2 have a massive postgame) but it never hurts to give everything a try. Also, nice to see you're planning on getting Omega Ruby as well. The Hoenn remakes have surely been pleasing a lot of players so far with the amazing graphics and even more new features such as the DexNav, which is definitely changing the way people catch Pokemon forever.

On the topic of the anime, I can easily tell you're not a fan of the new voices in the English dub. In fact, a lot of people have the same opinion (they think 4Kids did a better job with dubbing but I definitely think they weren't good at everything) yet I don't mind the new voices myself. It shows how different some Pokemon fans can be, like how I'm someone who likes the more "modern" Pokemon games yet most tend to like the nostalgic stuff.

But anyways, we're definitely all individuals here at PC and everyone is unique. Hopefully you'll stick around and have fun enjoying what the forums have on offer, and if you need help our friendly staff team are always there!

Absolutely loving HeartGold so far, as well as Platinum. The way you can interact more with your pokemon, the range of items, the graphics and the detail are just immense. It takes a lot of time playing two Pokemon games at once, though. I tend to play Platinum during the day and HeartGold at night, although I'll have to vary it a little since some Pokemon only come out during the day, and some at night. I bought a brand new version of HeartGold (£100 on Amazon) with a Pokewalker which I haven't used yet, but it sounds really interesting.

Yeah, I'm a bit like that too. I think the modern games are great, but like the older episodes of the anime more. One thing I don't like though, is the Mega-evolved Pokemon, I think they've taken things a little too far by making them over-powered. And I don't like the way it messes with the appearance of some of the more classic pokemon like Gengar and Mewtwo.. that's about my only issue with getting X & Y.. I haven't played Black or White, is there any particular reason people have issues with it? I'll definitely get it at some point.. probably Pokemon Black. But I'll get Omega Ruby first.

Thanks so much for the welcome, it's always nice to get a friendly greeting. I'll stick around for sure

P.S. Can you tell me how to change my avatar? Or how to get one, I should say..

Greetings to you. I am also a long time Pokemon player myself. First game I played was Pokemon Blue. I can explain why some people have a problem with Pokemon Black and White. For one thing some people don't like the designs of some of the Pokemon introduced in those games. The Trubbish and Vanillite lines in particular. As for getting or changing an avatar, select "controls" and select the "edit avatar" option. Be sure to enjoy your time here. I will be seeing you around.

Also, I sent you a friend request. Us old folks gotta stick together.

Well, welcome, sir! Us old fans are kinda boring some times...

I also prefer the old generation games, but I think it's because I prefer the Pokémon who live in Kanto and Johto. But recently I started looking at the new ones with a little more respect and some are really promising!

I didn't like the Mega forms at first too (and to be honest some of them I still don't like, such as Mega Gengar or Mega Heracross), but I kinda fell in love with MegaPidgeot! haha.

When I had a DSLite I used to play a lot of Pokémon, but when I played BW I gave up on it. Not sure why, but (as I said before) I think it's because there weren't any Johto or Kanto pokémon, just Pokémon from Unova... But on BW2 they are "all" available, so that wasn't a problem anymore!

Yeah, I guess it's just part of getting old. You know you're getting on a bit when you start to complain and moan about things too much lol. My gran used to do that, it seems I do it a lot now..

Me too, I prefer the old ones. I think round about gen 4 they started to seriously run out of ideas.. actually, even the gen 3 ones aren't as good as the first two, but not as bad as gen 4. There are still some really classic ones though.

I love Mega Charizard, he just looks epic.
