    Seriously?
    Within days after the release of the game, predictions of racial controversies sprang up from every corner of the media. I mean, shooting through hordes of possessed Africans may seem slighly racist at first, but it's Resident evil for god's sake! You barely pay attention to who you're shooting, the only thing that's on your mind is: "ZOMBIES! GTFO!!!!11!!!1!!!!" I've read several articles about how 'horrid' and 'racially diminutive' the game is. I own a copy of the game, and I find it hard to look past all the engaging gameplay to point out racism of the game. So I'm wondering, how is this game so racist? What makes it any more racist than any other controversal game?

    If it's in Africa, what else would you be shooting? Asians? No. It's just sensitive people making a big deal out of nothing.

    We have been shooting white zombies all this time, is that racist?

    Like the poster above said, it's racist itself to think that shooting black zombies is racist when we've blowed up not only white zombies in previous RE games, but also stereotyped spanish people, midgets, young girls and dogs.

    Chances are that whatever organization has made these allegations is doing it to draw attention to themselves.

    Seriously, It's just a game anyways. People who make claims that the game is racist should be ignored at all costs, because they're nothing but great big windbags crying for attention.

    I understand that there are some honest organizations out there which help fight racism, and they don't usually make a big deal over video games. If you're offended by the fact there are 'colored' zombies then DON'T PLAY THE GAME!

    I played the demo for this game a little while ago. I don't think it's racist because as said before, what other sort of people would you be shooting in Africa?
    And honestly, it's only racism if you perceive it that way. Some see it as shooting a huge amount of Africans, many others see it as mowing down a an imminent threat of zombies. I for one, prefer the latter.

    Funny how nobody cared that you were shooting a bunch of Spaniards in Resident Evil 4. But maybe that's because their skin color is white?

    well i am black and i am sick of ppl always jumping to conclusions.and the stupid thing about it nobody cares until someone brings it up!Only the media causes all this just like russlle peters said

    It's set in Africa.

    I didn't know why the media would go to such lengths to scrape controversy from this. But that's the media for you I suppose.

    This is older news. I think Jack Tomson was still in the news at that time.

    ...Are you effing kidding me? XD;

    I see topics like this on Gamefaqs.com all the time. RE5 isn't racist, dude. Firstly, a huge majority of the enemies you fight are white, and secondly, while there are a number of black enemies...think about where it's set. Africa. Typically people who live in Africa...are black XD;

    And it's not like they're showing black people off as "uncivilized" as a lot of people claim they are. Hell, one of the 2 main characters (Sheva) is black herself ._.;

    ...And just for the record, I bought this game yesterday, and I'm absolutely loving it :]

    *sighs*
    How many times do we have to hear this? Controversy can spring up at the drop of a hat, but it'll never be white people who the "racism" is targeted at, it'll be a minority group in America. Its all just to get a story on the news, internet, whatever media they can get. I'm honestly sick of people shouting "Racism!" at every opportunity.

    Ironically, the RE5 commercial just came on.

    I agree with all of you that it's just ridiculous and overall ignorant that someone would assume that RE5 is racist.
    For those who don't bother reading the first post thoroughly:
    I DO NOT FIND THIS GAME RACIST AT ALL

    It shouldn't even be considered a racial game. There were Spaniards in RE4 and (I assume) white people in the previous entries. Zombies or not, who cares. It's a game. I don't see how it can. I understand that it is a white man killing black people, but it's not like there aren't games where a black protagonist kills white people. GTA: San Andreas is an example of that. Racism doesn't just go "white people hate black people", it can be "black people hate white people" also, it's just the first has a past and a harsh one at that. >:

    But yeah, it isn't racist. XD; Just a game with a backstory taking place in Africa.
