What do you guys think or hope?

I would love to see a way to play with your friends together on the same map so you can explore together and stuff like this.

I see that it is impossible to see every player in the area you are exploring, since it will be too many and it will lag as sh'it and also the screen would be full with Sprites :-D

But it would be nice if you could invite friends to your party so you can actuallay see them in your game , interact with them and FINALLY HUNT AND EXPLORE TOGETHER! ;-)

What are your thoughts on this?

Did GF or POKEMON mention anything like this?

I cant see why we havent got it yet? I mean if you can only interact with known friends theres no chance for pedobears ....so PLEASE give us Online Multiplayer :-D

As cool as a Pokemon MMO would be, I still think we're a long way off that for the handheld games. I am intrigued to see what online features Sun & Moon introduce though! Super secret bases from ORAS were a great addition and a step in the right direction, hopefully we get something similar to that.

i cant understand why Gamefreak doesnt do it? it cant be technical limitations. loading 2-3 maybe maxiumum of 5 "party-members" that can see eachoter in the world so they can explore together.

Anyone knows if Gamefreak mentioned why they dont do it? Who wouldnt love it? and who the hell clicked no?!

I think it would be really cool if we could play online with people, even if it were only a select few that could play at once. I understand that making it like an entire MMO would be chaos, all of the fanmade MMOs always are, but if we had the option to explore with choice friends sometimes I'd be all for it. Like, you could enter in a few friend codes and if you were all playing at the same time you could run into each other or meet or something!

They sorta already did this with the Entralink in BW. It would be interesting to see it expanded and improved upon. They could probably integrate it with the PSS.

I honestly couldn't see this working out for a couple reasons.
    1. having 6 people in 1 area wouldn't be so bad, but suppose everyone goes off into different towns. Suddenly, there is a lot more data being loaded.

    2. Having 6 people fight the champion would be wierd.

    3. Suppose 1 person can only play for 1 hour a day, while the other plays... 6 hours a day. Then they are not working together as much.

That problem is solved to limiting the co-op play to after-gamer! And then limit players to be within the same area and/Or change areas together. spice it up with a few optional co-op missions and its done. everyone would try complete their dex with friends and do some side quests!

You can still manage to play games like Fantasy Life with multiplayer and it's kind of similar to how Sun & Moon map plays.

As Kojo pointed out, B/W did something like this with the Entralink but I don't think it was executed well which was likely why it didn't return in 6th Gen.

In general, in Pokémon, unlike say Animal Crossing, there isn't generally as much to show off or that a person can decorate on their map - it looks the same, mostly, apart from the trainers being defeated or not - and as such simply walking around their area might not be worthwhile enough to integrate as a feature. In general, sticking to the areas of the map that can be customised, and hence aren't mostly the same for both players, was the preferred approach with 'zones' and such, and is generally perhaps more appropriate. It might raise other problems as well, such as asymmetry between players or that one would have to be barred from for instance taking the legendaries from the other person's game, usually, for instance.

Perhaps an easier option would be to just let players be indicated when others within a certain network get past a certain point, perhaps with a short visual depiction as in FR/LG, although this would have to be dampened down slightly to make it less about check-points and more just entering certain areas, etc.

I've wanted this for ages and I think if Game Freak pull it off right it could be an amazing feature. Personally, I think if we have any chance of this actually happening then we'll have to wait for the next Nintendo handheld, although it is possible on the 3DS, I think the fact that we haven't seen it happen yet means that it won't be likely until the next console.
