"Thanks.'I said, folding up the paper in a neat stack and continuing to work on the computer. After several minutes working and sensing Tali standing behind me, I sighed. "You could sit down, you know." I say , motioning slightly to a chair nearby. "You don't ahve to stand like that."

"Just what is it that we're going to be interested in?" I asked calmly from Behind Tali and the other Swiftfoot. I had ducked out of the room a moment after Tali, and had kept up with her, trailing behind a bit. Hopefully it was a way to get 'uploaded' into a better realian. I doubted it, but I could always hope. I hadn't been looking at what either of them were doing, staying a respectful fdistance back. Hopefully they'd tell me, so I didn't want to annoy them.

Completely ignoring Robert, I took a seat, and began to think about what I we would know. Sure, my dad knew the creator of the first 100-Series, MOMO, but I didn't remember him telling me anything important. Unless, I was just there at the wrong time, and they weren't after me. That would explain why Margulis wanted to keep me, but I doubted that.

"So... what are you going to do?" I asked as I watched the screen again. "I mean, what will you do after we reach Second Miltia?"

I shrugged. "more research I guess. I wouldn't mind using this second chance on life, but I want to learn everything about it first. Wouldn't do to start enjoying myself and learn we have a failsafe inside us that shuts us off after a month, now would it? As for what we're doing." I called over my shoulder. "We're breaking down the info I got off the shuttle to try to figure out what's going on."

"At least you have plans..." I said as I got up to leave again. How was I supposed to live in these times the way I was? Was I meant to take orders from humans, and battle the Gnosis? Or was I meant for something more? Wither way, i'd soon lose my human memory, so it didn't matter.

"Good point." I said, walking a bit closer, but still not enough to read over the swiftfoot. "So, have you found anything interesting?" I asked, fighting with my curiosity not to be rude to this person. "Sorry, I'm..." I said, trailing off. "I'm not really sure what I should refer to myself as. The name this swiftfoot realian has, or the name of a deceased person who died aboard the Harbinger." I explained sheepishly.

I shrugged my shoulders. "I prefer using the name I think of myself as. In which case I'm Jace. But what I found is that they put us in these bodies in order to recycle our minds. Seems they intended on selling us to someone for our memories. In a sense, we're lost cargo."

"I see, I think." I said, unnable to restrain my curiosity past saying "I WAS Robert, but going by that name might cause a problem now." I said, indicating the realian I was in. "As for our memories though, I certainly don't remember having anything of value in my head. At least, not that would make anyone want to bring me back from the dead. Quite the oposite, really, i thought the world would have been a better place after I died." I said, joking by the time I reached the end, unnable to restrain my sense of humor.

I watched them, remaining completely silent. The world would be no different if I was alive or if I was dead. Suddenly, a strange, extremely painful headache attacked me, causing me to fall to my knees, and hold onto my head, panting. What was happening now?

"No... I'm fine..." I mumbled, sounding like I was in extreme pain. I got to my feet shakily, and my legs rattled, causing me to fall forward. What was going on that could cause this. Then, another one of TALI's memories returned to me.

"This device is used to keep track of you, but also to control you." A man said from the shadows, before cackling. It was Margulis. "If you disobey me, this is what will happen to you." TALI watched him press a button, and I lost the memory again. SO this was Margulis' doing?

The more I saw Tali in Pain, the more I became certain their was a fail safe. "Get Tali to teh infimary." I said briskly to Robert, Turning back to my computer. "I'm going to figure out if there is a fail safe involved, and if there is, how to remove it." I say grimly, now working feverishly at the keyboard.

"Right." I said simply, nodding, and picking up TALI, carrying her over my shoulder. She wasn't that heavy, so it was still fairly easy to dash off. I wasn't completely sure of my way around the ship yet, but Jace had made a mistake. He had said the infirmary. He must still be thinking as a human. I needed care for a Realian, which is where I went...

We arrived at our destination, and the main scientist quickly took hold of my and placed me in a pod-like device that was suspended vertically in the air. Before I had a chance to rebel being placed there, I had been taken offline. My mind was floating around in cyberspace while my body was worked on.

A remote. That was what the next hour of seraching produced. The carrier had a remote. The problem with it was if it was overused, it could kill us. Still, they must have used tali's remote to track the signal. My face paled as I realized they were using these remotes not only to torture us, but track us down. I ripped the printing from the printer and ran down the hall to the tech room, where I new all realians got fixed. I ahd to let them know what was going on.

"Jace?" I asked, turning around to face the other Swiftfoot as he came in, and I saw the look on his face. "I take it there's important news, and it isn't good." I said, noting the way he rushed in, and the look on his face. I sighed, and rubbed my forehead, saying "You might as well get it over with. What id you find?"

"I was right in suspecting a failsafe." I said a little breathlessly. "But it's mcuh worse than I anticipated. It's not set to a timer. We're hooked up by remote control. All they have to do is push the button, and we're wracked with uncontrollable pain that immobolizes us. But it get's worse than that. Not only can the overuse of this failsafe 'damage the product beyond all repair', as the data called it, but I suspect they're using it now to track us down. So it's only a matter of time before they're right on top of us."

I felt myself come online again, soon after Jace had returned with the news. I stumbled out of the pod, and landed on the ground with a smack. I rolled onto my back, and gripped my head again. The pain had yet to subside, and I still could barely move. Though the memories of my past felt farther away then ever before.

I ran over to the tech table and fumbled through the gizmos there. Finally finding what I was looking for Grabbing up several one inch wide devices, I ran over to Tali and pushed back (whatever gender this char is) hair. I saw on Tali's head the small link adaptor all Realians had and inserted it into his/her head. "These are disruptors." I explins as I reach back and plug one into my head as well. "This will keep the Remotes from hurting us, though I'm afraid it's too late to avoid a lock." I say, tossing the last one to Robert. "we're going to have to be more careful from now on."

I blinked twice as the pain suddenly eased, and I got to my feet, wobbling slightly. I was still a little shaken up, but perfectly fine again besides that. "Wha... what happened?" I asked as I sat on a table to stop myself from falling over.
