    hi all,

im new to the forum and am thinking of recollecting pokemon cards after about 10 years, due to investment reasons etc. i posted a thread recently but i think it didnt get through ok, so i will try to put it the same as before.

i am posting for two reasons:

    1) i would like to start collecting again, by booster packs most preferably, but haven't a clue where to start. i would like to start collecting the most recent, or current, if they are still in production, pack of cards out there. of course, the ones with the most valuable and rarest of cards available in booster packs i would want to collect first, but anything would be considered.

    2) i have a big collection of cards from when i was younger, from the first ones with charizard holo etc, to japanese holo's and various other stuff which i dont know what they are. in regards to this, can anybody recommend the best way to upload my album of them, which are in an a4 folder with a4 card wallets? that way i can hopefully get a valuation on the whole deck. i have checked over them all but cannot see any first editions. im not too sure about error cards etc, but am pretty sure there are some rare cards in there.

many thanks anyway for reading my thread:

The most recently released set is Black & White: Dark Explorers. There are 3 other sets currently being printed alongside it, and those are Black & White: Emerging Powers, Black & White: Noble Victories, and Black & White: Next Destinies. The two most recent ones are more likely to have high money cards than the other two, since they have sought after EX cards in them, but the set that will be rotated out of printing when the next set comes out in August is Black & White: Emerging Powers, so you may want to collect that first before it goes out of print and becomes harder to find.

For best collecting results, I recommend keeping tabs on what sets will be rotated after the World Tournament in August, as competitive players will be selling those cards in droves at that point and you may get very good deals on the rarest of those cards!

As for uploading pictures of your collection, I suggest uploading any pictures you take as attachments to posts you make in our How Much is My Card Worth? Thread in the short term until you reach 15 posts and can post URLs for images hosted off-site. I will tell you this in advance, though: I will not price out commons and uncommons because they are generally non-valuable, and I will not price out batches of more than 10 cards at a time, since pricing is a fairly time-consuming task and I apparently am the only one who regularly makes an effort to price cards in that thread. If you need an explanation on how to find out if a card is a common or uncommon, let me know.
