    The trainer Red was once a Pokémon champion. After Red beat the elite four, he went to Mt. Silver, as you probably all know. But after Gold went to Mt. Silver to challenge Red and beat Red, Red went to go train, and never was spoken about or seen again. So I think that when Red went to go train after being deafeted by Gold, he froze to death and died. Ithink that because after Gold beat Red, Red was never spoken of again.
     
    That's a horrifying theory ;; but maybe that's it. I personally prefer to think that Red retired after Gold had beaten him. That he figured that if this young hero (Gold) could defeat him after he had beaten Team Rocket in Kanto and his childhood rival and the very E4 of the regions, and then honed his skills into wicked heights at Mt Silver... Then he could retire feeling that he could pass on the torch of a worthy pokémon master to Gold :3
