There's a few sponsored links that remain even if you've donated, which I do realize its stated in the donation benefits that only the top sponsored link is removed.

I came to the passing thought that if someone were to subscribe, so to speak, and pay a recurring small donation fee for whatever the price the add brings on a member-per-member base, then that could supplement whatever finances it brings in to keep those there. Sounds like a reasonable idea to me, so I'm bringing it up here for Steve and others to share their thoughts.

For clarification, I'm talking about the sponsored link above the quick reply, the sponsored column in blogs, and things like that.

As I'm sure you know, there's the Tier 4 recurring supporter usergroup. So perhaps it would fall within that group. Though if I'm honest, I'm not entirely sure what you're suggesting. Forgive me for that, but I'm assuming that you're suggesting that on top of the usual Supporter amount, there is also an option for a "Subscription" fee, that would remove all ads so long as it is being paid?

Yeah, that's what I'm suggesting. Because I'm aware that even up to 6 Tier, there are still sponsored links that are displayed throughout the site and I would much rather them not be there and I would certainly be willing to pay whatever (within reason) amount necessary to remove them, since I'm on the forums often enough and adblocking doesn't remove the table and that bothers me greatly. A recurring payment makes the most sense since the finances that come from one view will still be supplied.

Anyone who chooses to do so can just be placed within a secondary usergroup that hides literally all the ads on the forum and the tables that they're held within.

I do agree that it should be something like that for maybe Tier 5 and 6. I hate seeing these things all around the forum and I personally think it makes the forum look worse.

I think that keeping the Sponsored ads would be a good idea. They provide money for the site, and the more money the site has the better for the members imo.

Which is why I suggested a recurring payment method for people who don't want it and would finance monthly to make up for the lack of sponsored links on their browser. Not sure if you read my post or not...?

I am Tier 6, I donated $100.00 at one time. I don't see any ads really and if there are in there very small and don't affect my browsing of the forums at all. I don't mind them really. A monthly subscribtion really wouldn't be fare though. I am the type of person who would rather donate $100.00-$300.00 dollars every 3 months or so than pay a monthly sub fee of such a annoying small amount.

I do agree that it may not be a popular option, however an option is what it would be. Some people may enjoy having it. So I can agree that having the ability to donate monthly at whatever amount (we'll say $5), all ads are removed from the site. Again though, it'll be vastly unpopular I imagine. Rukario will probably be more forthcoming with the idea, or will at least shine more light on it. He's the only one who really handles donations, so perhaps shoot him a VM and see what he thinks about what you're suggesting. Perhaps a more fleshed out version of the idea could be more favorable.

Thanks stranger for your help. But don't you guys think Removing the adds for regular member will be a little good looking ? :P Just said. Not needed to get tens ! Its ok if you can't !
The reason that ads remain there for the regular user is purely to attain some revenue, so as to keep the server running. We hope that the removal of some of the ads on the site will be an incentive for users to donate, and become Supporters. By clicking ads, the site gains a small amount of revenue which goes directly into the fund that helps the site run, and improve. So by removing such ads for regular users, it would lead to less income for the upkeep of the site. Hopefully that makes some sense!
