Repopulating Kanto: Pallet Town

People have said that a return to Kanto would be boring because we've done it hundreds of times before. But what if Kanto was refreshed, renewed, and recalculated?

Starting today, we are going to take a look at every route, town, cave and city in Kanto and determine what changes, if any, need to be done. By the end, we will hopefully have a refreshed Kanto to be proud of, and a refreshed Kanto to enjoy.

So where do we begin? Well, Pallet Town, of course.

The big questions you must answer...
Who is the professor? Is Oak still around? Has he passed it on to Blue? Or is it someone else?
What are the starters? Are you interested in keeping the Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle trio?
Will the professor give you the respective Mega Stone for your choice? Will the professor give you a special Z-Crystal for your choice? Or nothing and those come later?
What items will be given to you before leaving town?

We will deal with stuff like hidden items and Pokemon in the water on the South side of town at another date.

Damn this is gonna be a long thing, but I suppose for the idea of refreshing Kanto, we could make some changes. I would like Oak to still be the professor, and the original starters to be kept, getting the mega stones at the start would be kinda cool, but the biggest change I'd like to see would Oak having the massive ranch type thing like he has in the anime, with loads of Pokemon inhabiting it, that would be cool to see in the games, apart from that, I'd keep everything else the same.

So if this takes place in the future, I'd assume Oak is dead/retired.

Honestly, I would rather have new starters. But they never do that in remakes :p

Probably mega stone, but not right away. Probably after doing something like the parcel quest.

What items will be given to you before leaving town?
Town Map, Pokedex, A magic bag, RUNNING SHOES, and yeah, that's it.

Probably Blue taking its place, Assume that Oak is retired.
What are the starters? Are you interested in keeping the Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle trio?

Before post-game, mega stone after 5th Badge and further post-game perspective Z-crystals. If Charamnder is chosen, player pick either X or Y megastone for Charizard.

Professor Oak has retired and handed his position over to Daisy.

What are the starters? Are you interested in keeping the Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle trio?
Keep the originals, they're a staple to Kanto.

Will the professor give you the respective Mega Stone for your choice? Will the professor give you a
special Z-Crystal for your choice? Or nothing and those come later?
You can get a Z-Crystal for your choice when you've caught 10 Pok?mon, and a Mega Stone when you've caught 30. You can do this by showing your Pok?dex to Daisy.

What items will be given to you before leaving town?
Running Shoes, Town Map, Potions.

I don't have a problem with the professor - be it Oak or Blue - giving you the Mega Stones right at the start of the game, seeing as you can't use them until your starter has fully evolved anyways, so it's not like it's giving a super powerful item that will ruin the balance of the early game. If anything, giving such an item right at the beginning might make the game's intro a lot more interesting imo.

Besides that... the same things everyone else has said, haha.

I'm intrigued by the idea of Daisy becoming Oak's successor, but I definitely don't think Blue should be a Professor.
