While checking through my subscriptions, I found Reputation Power. What is it? I've never seen it before :surprised:

It's basically just a number of points one adds to someones reputation. It's (well, I believe it is) based off of the higher the post count of a certain member. So say someone has...11,000 post's. They'd have a high reputation power to give/take from someone.

For example; Say your reputation power is 5 and you positive rep someone, it would add 5 points to their total reputation. I hope I helped.

Hit it right on the mark.
It is determined by posts, and length of time you have been a member. Being staff/a supporter may also be a factor.

You start with 10 by default, and then a few things that determine your altering power from there:
Is that an error? 'cause I'm pretty sure that new members can't give / take 10 points from someone else automatically. That's the default rep that people start out with. D8

Well I know how the system works, I'm just pointing out that this certain line was maybe misplaced. :x

It depends on a lot of things. Basically, there's a number called your 'reputation altering power', and it determines how much reputation you give or take from a person when you rep them. You start with 10 by default, and then a few things that determine your altering power from there:
As in, it's worded as it is referring to someone's rep altering power, so people get the impression that new members can give / take 10 points right from the start.

    It's only affected by:
    1) post count
    2) reputation (YOUR reputation)
    3) number of days of membership since the rep system was last installed

To add on to what the others said, reputation itself has actually been around for a while now. It was only just recently that users can actually see how much reputation-altering power they have, which is what you're seeing.

And to make things more clear ill make an example from myself.
I have 1 year here so thats 3 points
I have 3000 posts so thats 6 points
I have under 30 points so thats 0 points.
So in a total i can give or take 9 points. And not only does it give people a thought about the member you are but it also lets you have spiffy green boxes in the member info area.

Not tue. While checking it out, I have 0 power. But, I was here over a year and have 900 posts. But, I think it started to affect since the rep system activated.

I'd just like to take this opportunity to thank the staff for the new rep page, it's pretty sweet to keep track of your last few reps. :D Now I know where to go next and what not, merci beaucoup.

I believe your time on PC and the amount of post you make count only after the implementation of the rep system. So you'll have to be here a full year after the system was implemented to increase your rep altering power.

    Cassino:

For every 100 days you're a member, you gain 1 point of reputation-altering power.
For every 500 posts, you gain 1 point of reputation-altering power.
For every 30 points of positive reputation you have, you gain 1 point of reputation-altering power.

I'm sure you can do the math. ^^

Either way, this is much more clear.

    it's mentioned in the FAQ
Moral of the story: not to stop looking for something at the moment the page starts to talk about other things.
... It was at the bottom of the search results while everything else directly pertaining to reputation was at the top. D:

Oh well, thanks Gummy and Zet.

so does this mean that people just dont like me. I have no reputsation and I have been here since August. Can you check ur total amount of reputation points?
