"Requiescat In Pace" is a new series in the Daily Bloggity which is an ode to individuals who have passed away recently. At it's core, it will be a brief entry that focuses on the cause of death, as well as some highlights of the person's death. Furthermore, it will give the reader an avenue or outlet to discuss recent events with others who may be similarly grieving. This series will appear occasionally within the Daily Bloggity here and there on days at 5PM ET.
May the force be with her as she moves on from this life into the next.
Carrie Fisher, most notably renown for her role as Princess Leia in the popular Star Wars films, was flying from London to Los Angeles on December 23rd, when she unexpectedly went into cardiac arrest. The flight was fifteen minutes away from the destination when the event occurred, and it was reported that she lacked a pulse during this timeframe. Paramedics arrived on the scene and rushed her to a nearby hospital where she was treated for the heart attack, but alas it was to no avail. She later passed in the hospital.
She started her career by enrolling in the Central School of Speech and Drama in London in 1973, where she spent the next year studying acting in the hopes of landing a gig in Hollywood. Just two years afterwards, Fisher went to Hollywood for her film debut of Shampoo. Her next big role would land in 1977 when at the age of 19 landed the role of Princess Leia in Star Wars. Other roles in her acting career included The Blues Brothers, Woody Allen's Hannah and Her Sisters, and The Man with One Red Shoe.
Fisher, on top of her amazing movie career, was also very open about her bipolar disorders and substance abuse issues that had, explaining how she started smoking marijuana at the age of 13. She later dabbled in drugs such as cocaine and LSD, which she would later discuss her battles in her 1987 bestselling, part autobiographical novel Postcards from the Edge, which was later converted into a movie starring actress Meryl Streep.
She is survived by her daughter Billie Lourd and brother Todd Fisher.
