[Other] ROM Hack Programs for a MacBook Air or Mac's in General?

I have recently gotten an obsession for playing hacked versions of Pokemon on my Samsung Smart Phone with the MyBoy app (I started playing Dark Rising and Dark Rising 2) and I thought: "Hey, why not make my own hack?!" I already have a plot and storyline, I just need to know what programs do I need and if those programs are available for the Mac? Preferably a free version, or at least a trial, I'm honestly not picky at all. If there aren't any out there, that's completely understandable because Mac's aren't really built for gaming (mostly editing and arts-y stuff) but I would like to make a hack nonetheless.

    So help?

Hacking on a mac is pretty difficult, I know there's a program called Wine Bottler that will let you run windows apps on a mac (things like advance map and xse should be operational when you use it through Wine Bottler). But every time you're gonna want to hack, you'd have to open up wine bottler and then run your applications through that.

Another method would be to use the bootcamp feature (which idk if it's still made or not) where you can install windows drivers onto your mac so when you turn on your computer you can boot it up as a windows instead of a mac. Personally I only tried the Wine Bottler because I didn't have a windows start up disk to use on the bootcamp.

I'd run a virtual installation of Windows through virtualbox if you want maximum compatibility for some of the more obscure tools.

Wine runs AdvanceMap, Lunar IPS, Tsukuyomi (UPS Patcher) and PKSV perfectly with wine on my computer. Gen3Suite and MEH are available for multiple platforms, so they'll work on Macs. For everything else, I used VirtualBox.
