[Tool] ROMS Will not work with any of my tools, any advice?

    Hey guys, I'm trying to get into hacking but I'm having a lot of trouble and can't find enough info online.
    Firstly, could someone please explain to me what an .INI file is?
    My ROM of pokemon ruby opens fine with Advance Map, and i am able to make edits, however, if i use any other editor, such as PGE, YAPE or Advanced Sprite Editor, my ROM does not work.
    PGE says Unhandled exception has occurred in your application, Arithmetic Operation resulted in an overflow
    Sprite editor on the other hand says data is not LZ77 compressed.
    Please help I have no idea how to solve this problem, thanks

    If you want to hack a Hoenn based game, always use Emerald. And use Emerald v1.0.
    I believe all these errors are occurring because you are using a v1.1 ROM.

    I thought it was advised to use ruby over emerald because of the lack of free space on emerald? I'll try find a 1.0 version of both and see what works best, thanks a lot
