  • To do these you'd need to talk to at least two different Watt Traders, because they count as starting and finishing points for the rally. So to unlock more 'courses'/paths you need to find all possible ones. Don't know if I found them all, but I found 7 possible locations: (the 7th being the one I'm talking to)
    Spoiler:

You basically just ride from one location to the other while on a timer which you have to prevent from reaching 0 or you'll fail the course/race. The courses have various Rotom balloons dotted around: white ones give you a short speed boost while the red ones add 15 seconds to your time. You can't interact with wild Pokémon during the rally, but if you collide with them you will spin around and come to a (near) stop.

    Spoiler:

There are three rewards to collect from doing the Rotom Rally:
-Your very first (completed) Rally gets you TM14 - Thunder Wave
-If you get a score of 20,000 or higher you get TM80 - Volt Switch
-If you complete any 11 rallies you get a Fast Ball.

The Rotom Rally seems to be only in the original Wild Area. I do not recall seeing it at all in IoA or CT. Possibly a missed opportunity for some new courses and rewards.

Personally I think the Rotom Rally was kinda fun, but bores fast. Once you have all 3 rewards there really isn't any reason to keep doing them. Kinda wish GF would've brought them back in the DLC's and fleshed them out a bit more or just with new rewards.
For an example on more fleshed out: maybe you could race against a set Pokemon instead of just against the clock? Maybe race against Tauros in IoA and against an Absol in Crown Tundra. I feel like having some sort of opponent you actually need to beat would be more fun than just racing against a clock that is so generous in it's time that you'd actually need to actively try to fail in order to actually fail a race.

So, did anyone do the Rotom Rally while playing SwSh ? Did you like it or were you bored with it fast? Did you just do it for the rewards and then never again? What was your best score?
To see your best score, go to your League Card, flip the card (R should be the default) and you'll see 'Rally Best Score'. Mine is 41.281
Keep in mind it doesn't automatically update your score if you recently got a better one and it isn't listed. You need to manually go to a Rotom PC and print your League Card again for any info on it that changed since the last time you printed it to update.

Would you have liked to see it return in the DLC's? Maybe with more rewards or more fleshed out?
Given that the Rotom Rally is completely optional and therefore can be completely missed: Did you even know the Rotom Rally was a thing?

Completed it for watts a few times. Preferred Rotom Rally over checking dens during the main story. Occasionally used it when planning to head to one spot anyways (such as checking watt vendors). Never liked or disliked it.

Shoots for Volt Switch on challenge runs. Forgets about it soon afterwards. Best score: 38781 points.

Did not notice its disappearance in the downloadable content. Cares little about it. Cannot think of any improvements. Perhaps adding tricks for points? Maybe less of a set path?
