B2W2 had something hugely notable missing, and that was Route 10. The moment that I saw it wasn't there I was pretty disappointed. It was like my legitimate favourite route because it was the route that led to new beginnings, the route that lead to the Elite Four, and the route in which you let go of the old self, and became a new, but stronger trainer. Legitimately it really was my favourite route, and the fact that it disappeared was really sucky, but I liked that it had the music of it later in the games!!

Did you miss Route 10 when playing through these games? Did you feel like something was missing? Did you prefer the new replacement for Route 10 aka the new way to reach the E4/Victory Road? Do you prefer the new badge check gate, or did the old one seem more... cooler to you? Which was your favourite at the old badge check gate (and the new one?) I personally loved the fact that in the old one you could float in the air I don't know why even really... I just kept going back. C:

ALSO, they said it was shut down because of landslides, but that's just what they told you. Put yourself in the realm in-game, now why do you really think it was closed? N fled there and developed a Zorua farm? Iris' secret training ground for her championship? You can't simply buy the whole landslide thing as the only reason it was closed? What do you really think? :)

While I liked Route 23 in BW2 quite a bit, Route 10 did have an emotional feel to it, possibly because of the music, not to mention where you battle Cheren one final time before Victory Road. Admittedly the Badge Check gate was done better here, BW2's was only them scanning you for the badges. My favorite of the gates before Victory Road i'd say was Skyla's, floating in the air was fun and enjoyable, made you feel like you were walking on air.

Considering the ends of Victory Road in BW2 have ruins that are blocked off, I would believe that Route 10 was indeed destroyed by natural occurrences like landslides. In fact, there's a video I saw where if you use a walk through walls cheat to see through it, it only leads to a bunch of trees. So they must have eradicated all the rock that it was littered with and replanted trees in its place, which I do think was rather disappointing. I feel that could've made for another area that would be visited post-game, like housing more Pokémon, a Hidden Grotto, maybe a secret area with a legendary or something like that. So yes, Route 10 was something missed by me, but Route 23 instead did make me feel like an adventurer with its gigantic cliffs and Strength puzzles.

Actually that gives me a thought, with the strength you mentioned, Clay could have easily started mining through the landslides, to save the route. It'd lose its natural feel, buuut... post game it would have been amazing to return to a remixed Route 10 theme song which had a mining feel. Or yeah, hidden grottos in the area that remained would've been nice. Like... a wasteland of sorts that you have to sort your way through. Though you never know!! Landslides could have still been a cover up :suspicious:

I really liked the Badge Gates in BW because for the first time the right of passage for the protagonist heading into the Elite Four seemed like a very grand part of the game, accentuated by the graphics Gen 5 had to offer :)

I really liked how each gate was so different, and tailored well to suit the respective Gym Leaders they were representing. My favourite gates were the Trio Badge one - it's the first gate you come across and after not knowing what to expect and then seeing all that lush vegetation etc. it was just really pretty :) And also the Quake Badge one, I'm a big fan of emeralds and seeing them all glittering in the walls was super purdy :)

Well considering that Team Plasma pulled an entire building out of the ground, completely displacing the natural structure of that area, I would say that the landslide story is pretty solid. I do have to admit that I wish the route was in BW2, but I also understand that on top of having limited space for the game to fit on the cart, they also added several new areas, so something probably had to be cut. We also lost the Challenger's Cave, which is something else I wouldn't have minded being able to access in BW2. But personally, I would prefer the mass post game content that we did get to bringing in those areas from the previous games. New content makes me not feel so bad about buying new games from an already existing region.
