So, I've downloaded it a couple times but it keeps giving me an error about loading a database (I think it was called nServer or something, :/) each time I load it up. Just wondering if anyone knew what the problem might be.

EDIT: I'm using Windows 7, so I don't know if that might affect it. :/

It may be because the firewall is turned on. If you turn it off, it will pick an ID to have the trial version of RPG Maker XP, that was happening to me because I hadn't internet, that's not your problem, so just turn off the firewall.

I tried it, still getting the same problem.

    Here's the exact message:

Failed to obtain a trial serial number from the nTitles server.

No idea what I'm doing wrong. xD

    Hmmph...

Yeah! that was my problem, I got the same issue. But it MUST be the firewall. I mean, if you are connected always to internet, there's no reason for it to not let you use, at least, the trial version.

Maybe Windows 7 is the problem, if it is: emulate the program, run it as Windows XP, I think you know how to do it... don't you?

Crap! I wanted Windows 7 on my lap top, I may have the same problem if I install it! T_______T

Can someone that doesn't have it installed already try a fresh download and see if it's just a new problem with the download?

I'd try three things. First, disable your firewall. Second, run RPG Maker in compatibility mode for Windows XP. Finally, try running it as an administrator. If you do all those three, then it should work...

"Failed to obtain a trial serial number from the nTitles server."

I got this too. I believe the problem was that you needed to run it as an administrator... Yeah! That was it. Right click RPGXP(the one with the dragon on it) and it should say "run as administrator."

I think it does this because if you don't run it as an admin, it doesn't have permission to use the internet. Yes, I'm pretty sure this is it.

    Mmmm....

Do what Wichu said, he's right.
About the emulation... it's like Wichu said: run the program as Windows XP, well, i call it emulation.

If you are the admin on you PC, then it should give you any problem. Whatever, just right-click "Run as..." and it should work if you choose Administrator (or something like that).

Thanks for the help, that solved the problem. ;)

To anyone else that has the problem on Windows 7, it's an easy fix.

Right Click the Icon (If it's on the desktop), select Troubleshoot Compatibility, and the system will fix the problem itself, just select Run Program from the Dialog Box when prompted to.
