Hello ladies and gentlemen, today i would like to talk about this concept, because I know we all have been playing some racing games in our past or present. Lots of attention here goes to Mario Kart as well, and boy those series have lots of Rubber Banding!

"Rubber Band AI is an infamous hidden feature in racing games that allows computer-controlled opponents to catch up no matter how far behind they are. It is intended to keep challenging the player, but can also give AI opponents an unfair advantage."

Do you like this concept at all?
Having any hard times with it in some racing games?

I didn't know about this until this thread but I've never noticed this while playing Gran Turismo or Need for Speed, but I can recall some episodes of this happening back when I used to play Mario Kart DS especially in the highest cc GPs. Opponents going at incredibly high speeds with no reason at all.

I also haven't noticed before, but I haven't played too many racing games, aside from the occasional Mario Kart matches. Now that you mention it though, it does always feel like they are able to catch up pretty quick even though I felt like I put a good enough distance between me and the other racers. It's not very fair, but I suppose one good thing about it is it allows the game to still be a challenge? Keeps me on my toes even when I'm in the lead.

does the Gran Turismo Sport closed Beta count? I recorded a video where the other players' cars started spaatzing out all over the place. idk if i can post the video here or not though.

Probably that does count as well, though no video posting here I think.

my most played racing game is Mario Kart DS and wii (and some Need for Speed on the DS), but i haven't noticed Rubber Banding. I guess I just assumed I just preformed turns or something with too much inefficiency.
