Alright, my brother was battling his friend and his friend had water pokemon. Now, he brought out a fighting pokemon, but the fighting pokemon had electric attacks, for electric energy (thundershock).

Now would this attack, which is strictly electric, do any extra damage against a water pokemon? If not, what's the point of having 2 electric attacks on a fighting pokemon?

  • No, it would not. You only factor in a Pokemon's type (in this case, Fighting) when applying Weakness and Resistance.

  • And to answer your second question, the point is to be able to have a card that's not an Electric-type Pokemon in an Electric-type deck. They really only do this with Pokemon that would be Dragon-type in the video games as well as with a Pokemon that has types in game that would make it two different TCG types.
