[News] Rumor: Smash 4 to be re-released on the Switch with additional content, Melee on VC

This rumor is false because 1) Sakurai doesn't like porting his older games onto next-gen systems and would rather create a new entry instead (that's how Brawl was created when Iwata suggested porting Melee onto the Wii if Sakurai declined), and 2) based on what know about SSB for Wii U and 3DS, the Switch will share the exact same roster with no new characters and will have its own exclusive stages, trophies, and modes (like Smash Run on the 3DS and Smash Tour on the Wii U). The comment section from this article tells us that this Smash rumor originated from Tamaki, whose previous Smash rumor on Shovel Knight being playable turned out to be false, and the GCN VC rumor has been going on since the Wii era and is being brought by Laura Kate, who is a very unreliable source.

I always say this, but I don't really tend to believe any sorts of rumors, even if the "source" has a "good track record" or something, until it's officially confirmed or there's hard evidence to support it (like Sun/Moon datamining leaks).

I'm not sure why they'd add any number of more characters to the Smash 4 roster right now. We have gotten 7 DLC characters at this point, and the cast is nearly 60 characters large. If this was to be a whole new Smash game and not a port or director's cut, I could maybe believe it, but not this. Changes to the already existing characters I could see though.

But hey I guess we'll see what happens. If we are getting some sort of port on the Switch I hope there's some cool new stuff in it/some good changes.
