[Original World] Saprailia

Cloning:
Because everyone can respawn, there is no reason why people should have kids, and therefore everyone is incapable of doing so. However, the masters know the secret of cloning, and have taught it to a select few humans. Cloning is the closest you will get to having kids.

If you were to cast 2 cloning spells at one time, at two different people, the result would be a weird mix of both people.

If one of these clones were to die, it would be about 10 times harder for them to respawn, as their bodies go to an afterlife many dimensions away.
 
Forbidden Knowledge:
Not all spells are considered legal by the empire. Spells such as instant death, lockbreaking spells, mind control spells, ect. over legal citizens is considered a crime. Using these spells on undocumented citizens, such as bandits, humanoids, ect. is legal.

Unfortunately, these illegal spells must be taught at magic schools, because most of them are "gateways" to other spells. For example, you can't learn how to revive someone without a knowledge of death.

The Fifth University of the Unknown Magical Arts developed a special room for testing these spells, that wouldn't affect the outside world.

Artifacts of eternal knowledge: Many books, scrolls, and enchantments exist that allow the bearer to cast forbidden spells without the proper training of the law that the universities provide. The empire has most of these artifacts collected when they are found, but a few are not reported, and end up on the black market.
 
Alliances/Groups/Treaties:
The Vortex Federation: A military alliance between Vrepon and the Paradise Islet.

The Arcane Syndicate: A group dedicated to the prevention/limiting of magic use. Because magical energy comes from planets, they worry that the planet will die if magic is used excessively.
In reality, if everyone on the entire planet (Not just Saprailia) Used a master level spell, less then 1% of the planets energy would be used up, and the planets recover energy very fast.

The Global Union: Oversees mining operations and trade.

The Harvest Syndicate: Oversees all food production and trade, as well as owning 87% of all the farms in Saprailia. The other 13% are owned by shady companies that sell food directly to merchants. The empire requires all food to be inspected, so they are breaking the law. If you are willing to break a law though, it's a lot cheaper then food from the Harvest Syndicate.

As well as many more minor alliances between small towns.
 
Weapon enhancement magic:
Weapon enhancement magic (commonly known as WEM) is similar to enchanting, but it's easier to cast, doesn't require any disenchantment, enchanting stations, items, rituals, etc. Seems a bit overpowered right? The downside is that it's temporary. While enchantments last until you move the enchantment to a different object, or the enchanted object is destroyed, WEM only lasts a few minutes at most.

What kind of enhancements you ask? All kinds. Some are useful, like an enhancement that increases damage output, and some suck, like an enhancement that heals everything you hit. Some instantly kill anyone you hit, a few make anything you hit taste like lemons.

WEMs are very customizable, and there isn't a list to choose from. It all depends on your spellmaking skills.

There are 7 types of currency in use, each with a few coins and sometimes other objects. Currency isn't widely used, and the trade market is a lot larger, but the empire has been switching to currency to make life better for people who don't have much to trade.
