You know there has to be, or has been, a stage/dungeon in a game that just scared the piss out of you. I can think of quite a few, but I know you don't wanna read my rambles...but that won't stop me. >:)

    Chimera Lab - Mother 3
The ultimate chimera is loose and all you hear is roaring and pigs squealing. That's freaking scary, man! Seriously! And if you touch it, you don't even fight it. It's instant game over. :| He was right outside the door when I was playing last night and... -shivers- I don't wanna talk about it.

Shadow Temple - Ocarina of Time
Redeads. Nuff said. Then again, I think anywhere with redeads in any Zelda game is just hell. But this one is probably the worst, with all the secret passages, dead hands, skulls, blood, spikes, ick. It's a torture chamber, I'm tellin' ya. And the music sounds like someone moaning in pain. Get me out of here.

Lavender Town - Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow
Not the revamped Lavender Town in FRLG, no. The original. Creepy music and all. I thought I was going to die when I went to Pokemon Tower with no Silph Scope. Oh. My. Lord.

I'll keep it at three. XD I might mention more later, but that's all for now.

Oh god. Don't even get me started.

    Fallout 3: - Dunwich Building
I know that there are plenty of locations in Fallout 3 with Feral Ghouls, but this one really does it for me. I crapped myself the first time I went through this building.

    Resident Evil 3: Nemesis
There's no location for this one, as it's kinda different. But every time the Nemesis shows up, I get really quaky and scared as hell.

LoZ: Twilight Princess: - Arbiter's Grounds
This one kinda scares me. As I remember, there are alot of Redeads, Stalfos and Staltroops and the atmosphere really gets to me. The music is pretty creepy too.

The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion: - Sancre Tor
This one's part of the main quest, but this dungeon also gets to me. It's really dark, there's a ton of ghosts and other nonsense and the atmosphere really gets to me. And whenever I hear the combat music come on, my heart starts racing

    I could post more, but I won't.

Just about any place in Silent Hill 2. The apartment complex, hospital, hotel, and museum are all brilliantly done. The atmosphere is as scary as it's gonna get. Not to mention the Pyramid Head popping from time to time. Have yet to try and play at night w/ the lights off. I don't think I could either.

I'm sure the true horror-genre games will have top honours in this thread. Probably stuff like Bioshock too.

But I haven't played those games. So... I'm going with Beneath the Well in Ocarina of Time.

The dentist's office in Bioshock. sdkljlfgh Decrepit dental offices are creepy enough but then when the fog appears and suddenly there's that splicer in the chair? :( The first time I played the game I was an idiot and walked closer and freaked the hell out when it suddenly jumped at me (why would I think it was dead???). And then you go "oh, phew, well I guess this room is safe now, since it's already maxed out its startle factor--I'm not gonna be caught by a trick like that again." So you wander over and start rummaging through the cupboard/desk to take everything you can and.... when you turn around, there's a splicer right behind you oh dear god.

    I freaking hate that room. ;_;

    I also hate any hallways (especially unlit ones) in any FPS or survival game. D: Omg I was playing Left 4 Dead by myself last night and there was a witch sobbing around one of the dark hallways and I'd never encountered one before so I was so scared to go ~anywhere~ since I wasn't sure how the encounters worked but I knew they were nasty. XD;;

As for non-horror games... under the well scared me a lot in Ocarina of Time. Shadow Temple too, but mostly 'cause I played it at night when I wasn't supposed to as a kid. It also took me years before I could walk through Hyrule Town without freezing all the ReDead first. D: And I would always have to get my friend to get me the Sun Song when I'd play the game because I couldn't go through that tomb by myself. orz.

The Prototype Badger in Ace Attorney Investigations is nightmare-worthy too. And the first time I played Portal, the last level creeped me out so bad.

And there's actually a Kingdom Hearts boss whose desperation attack used to scare me so it took absolutely forever to figure out how to deal with it because I'd just kind of freeze up when it was used. ;~; /ashamed

okay i think that's it. *easily scared*

    Resident Evil 3: Nemesis
There's no location for this one, as it's kinda different. But every time the Nemesis shows up, I get really quaky and scared as hell.

I played the game once in my cousins house. It was creepy as heck o.o

I'm not really one to play "scary" games since I'm not a big fan of horror, but there's one part of a game that really sticks out in my mind that hasn't been mentioned yet.

The Phendrana space pirate lab in Metroid Prime.
It's not bad on the way to the Thermal Visor, but after the lights get killed and you have to use the visor and stumble through all the research labs with pirates dropping down from the ceiling and stuff, and your health getting low because it's so far from a save point, it's just arrrrgh. It was really intense and terrifying when I played it a few years ago.

Paul Dini, writer of Batman: The Animated Series and Batman: Arkham Asylum, once said that he was aiming for Arkham Asylum to be "Bioshock-lite".

So, on that note. I think the first time you encounter the crazies. In their cages shaking and babbling about. In the darkness Kinda disturbing. And then you return to that room shortly after. And they're gone. The cages are open. You know **** is about to hit the fan. And then they jump at you. D:

The Ruins in Phantasy Star Online. A crashed spacecraft crawling with scythe-armed demons and walls made of pulsating flesh... Brrr. Although it actually freaks me out a lot more NOW then when I first played it when I was younger.

I never really got scared of typical creepy stuff in games, just because I knew it was fake.

I do remember getting freaked out at MGS2 when the guy who had been talking to you the whole time turns out to be an AI, by then with a virus, and his face goes all polygon-ish and skeletal and starts saying strange things in a creepy voice. I have absolutely no idea why that freaked me out. It's not really scary. But I had a few sleepless nights as a result, I was a lot younger too.

In one of the Alone in the Dark games for PC, I was so scared when I had to try and block the window so the wolf couldn't get in, and when it did, I like, had a fit.

Lavender Town was creepy for me also. I hated the music.

LoZ: Twilight Princess: - Arbiter's Grounds
This one kinda scares me. As I remember, there are alot of Redeads, Stalfos and Staltroops and the atmosphere really gets to me. The music is pretty creepy too.

Oh my God, yes. More or less one of the most scariest dungeons/levels in a game EVER. The worst part was in one room of the jail (yeah, it's an abandoned jail, GO FIGURE), there were invisible rats that clung to you in human form and you couldn't see them unless you turned into your wolf form. It took me hours to figure that room out 'cause there were also sand traps, sliding doors, spikes, and falling bricks. I'm pretty sure that was the worst part of that game.

Anyway, I have a few. Some of the bosses in the Kingdom Hearts series freak me out. Not the Disney ones, more like the Heartless/Nobody ones. The worst one was less than an hour into the first game, I encounter this. I'm pretty sure I freaked out and shut down my game (I was like ten, okay?). Then in the second game, this guy appears. It wasn't as bad but I still had horrible memories of the first one. The most ironic thing about these guys is, they are really easy to defeat. <_<

I stopped playing Twilight Princess (Zelda), and fell through this webbed floor in this (first?) temple into a dark room below, only to see these glowy eyes, only to swing my lampy, only to see three Spiders Of Unusual Size, I freaked. And cracked my friends nunchuck on his basement floor.

Anywhere with big CGI bugs. Even those moth thing from Wind Waker creeped me out.

    What? Seriously?
    LoZ? Fallout 3? POKEMON?!

    Silent Hill 2
That game is pure gold for being scary and creepy.

The first Resident Evil game was creepy and made me jump alot, mainly because the camera was so bad that it would decide to change when a zombie was a meter in front of your face.

Halo: Combat Evolved - 343 Guilty Spark.
this level was scary! (the first time I played it)
    I wasn't expecting The Flood,at all.
so when I saw aliens dead, blood splattered against the walls,I was like,"oh...no whats in here?!".
I continued through out the place and then after the cut scene...The Flood start pouring out of the doors!
at that point I was scared! lol
    but I beat it.

I don't play much scary games, but that level was Scarey!
