I'm asking this because I want to know what the PokeCommunity thinks of this.

When choosing Pokemon for my team, I tend to make a list of all of the types and cross each type out when I choose a Pokemon that can defeat that type with super-effective STAB. Therefore, I find myself only training Pokemon that will have dual-types unless if their stats make up for the loss. Does the same thing apply to you?

In game doesn't really matter. I just get a team of pokemon that look cool/i've never used in that version. In game is just lol, i mean people do monotype run throughs because of that.

I try and have one of each type aswell. I'm always changing my 'Team' though, swapping different Pokemon and seeing what works.

    Well, I have an issue and only play with Pokemon that I find that are cute. XD; But I bulk them up, and level raise like crazy so I can kick butt with them XD;

My main party was created way back when on my Crystal version. They're actually a spectacular party now that I know what to do with them. My Umbreon and Scizor alone can take out huge parties. In the end your main party should one you think is unique and fits your battling style, tastes and opinions.

This thread doesn't belong here. This is more of General Pokemon Gaming so I'll move it there for you.

I always have to have varied types. It bugs me if I have two Pokemon with the same type, and I can't stand it if more than two have the same type. Like, I have an Empoleon and a Lucario on my Pearl team, and it slightly bugs me because they both have the Steel type. I can live with two, but not more than that.

Other than that, I use my favorites along with really underused Pokemon that most people consider "weak." I also like to keep my team varied and use different ones each time. That's generally what I do with teams.

i normally have my favorites that are from different types but i normally still go back to the dark, fire and ghost types

I try to have a balanced team of different types with them having different weaknesses. I don't want more than 2 pokemon on my team weak against the same type.

I hate pokemon that are way too cliche (lucario, scizor, salamence, metagross) and legends, so i generally avoid those. i like to go with underappreciated pokemon such as vespiquen, clefable, lopunny, hitmontop, etc

    Very similar to Hatenko^

I always keep my starter, then just pick up ones that intrigue me throughout the game. Then I just stick with that team all the way. Almost always avoid legends. Train the underappreciated ones.Etc.

I build specialized teams for battle arenas and contests after the fact.

I always use a fire-water-grass trinity native to the region of the game (one of them being the starter I chose of course). The second half of my team usually consists of longtime favorites of mine like Crobat, Haunter, Beedrill, Sandslash, etc...

If I did own the game, I would just dump all the legendary pokemon I catch in my team. There are so many in the game now, I'm more then certain that I'd acquire more then six by the time I beat the game.

I choose Pokémon I like. My starter's usually a "must", then I have a balanced Normal type, and build the rest of my team based upon my favourites that I've currently caught in the particular game. I try to keep my team pretty balanced, level wise, but my starter's usually a couple of levels above my other Pokémon.

I usually have a type-diverse team, but a Water-type, Electric-type, and Ground-type are a must on all of my teams, as I find those attack types to be most useful to defeat opponents in-game. Besides that, I choose Pokemon that look cool and are available relatively early in the game.

I usually just try to keep my types balanced. Pretty standard is the fire-water-electic combination. I'll usually have a flyer and a ground type as well, then the final spot is whatever I feel like. I always try to raise a grass type, but I can rarely get them to work so I often drop them in favour of another type. My starter, of course, is a staple of all my teams.

My current team is actually a little unusual for me (see my sig). Not having a fire type is really wierd, and having a grass type that works is also a little odd. No flyer as well, although bronzong has levitate, so at least I still have a ground immunity (edit - just remembered Yanmega is part flying, oops). I should note that I'm currently looking for a good natured magnemite to replace rotom.

I don't play competetively, so I don't bother EV training or anything. I never even used to look for good natures, although I do that occasionally now.
