Serena Vs May !

So which one do you think better ?
I think May is better in term of personality & Development ! Considering that she was far worst Rookie then Ash so her inner strength and development was really impressive.
Plus , She become intimate with Ash in 10 episode ! While Serena was Ash's childhood friend but she's still acts like a new girl.
Ya , May did not cut off her hair in name of development! But Sakura Haruno (Naruto) cut off her hair as well but she's still one of the most hated Anime character.
Not to mention , May is really attractive compare to all other Pokegirl.

Great, you're posting an ORAS versioned May which was awesome. Anime's May looks so plain and boring. I didn't like her personality either, she was too impulsive and spoiled and that's why I consider her the least favourite girl companion. When it comes to progression you're right, she had one of the best any1 had in the series and Serena is right next to her ( If she ever gets to finish a battle ) . :)

May is better than Serena in many ways:

I like the way how they introduced May in her first episode.

The image: May and Ash are both headed to littleroot town.

I like how she didn't like Pokèmon at the beginning, as she wanted to visit places. She found her goal later in AG.

Serena:
Serena wanted to see Ash again. But Ash didn't remember her at the beginning.

Serena has a crush in Ash. Why doesn't she go ahead and confess her feelings to him?

My vote is for May.

Though i wasn't a huge fan of the AG series, I always watched simply because May was just great to me. i loved the relationship between her and her brother and her development of not being sure what she truly wanted to going into Contests with everything she had later on. Serena is great but i just don't like her as much. that could always change though as I watch more of the gen 6 anime.

Actually , The Picture is very "Painful" to me! Because it reminds me that such a Beautiful girl will end up with Drew.
I hate it when flirtatious Player character like Drew get the Best girl. Female Fans might be okay with this because they sees Dazzling guys like Drew making girls like May fall in most Shoujo anime/Manga.
I believe Writer picked the wrong girl to be unavailable for Ash! Because May is type of Well-written Character that is Worth an entire harem.

Honestly , I think Drew & Iris will make an interesting couple.
Drew is pretty Boy with some femininity while Iris is a wild girl with Tomboyish personality.
They are polar opposite of one another.
Can You imagine that type of Chemistry these two can have ???
Also , Iris was last seen chasing after Rayquaza! So She might reveal to be May's new traveling companion.
Speaking of which , Where is May now ? Suppose she was in Sinnoh when Ash went to Unova. But what about now that neither Unova or Kalos have contest.

So far, I still love Serena more, love her design, and the animators gave her 3 Pokemon I just love.
For May, her design was good too, liked it, she only had 1 Pokemon I liked (Skitty) and she had to have my least favorite of all Pokemon (that fire bird thing) most times I didn't want to watch her episodes.

On episodes focusing more on the female traveling companion:
Almost all episodes featuring Serena I seem to enjoy the most, and one of the reason episodes featuring Serena (can't say why due to spoilers, as episode doesn't even have English title yet) is my most favorite of all episodes combined.
Episodes featuring May did have some memorable moments, the ones where Skitty was the main star.

Obviously May pulls the short hair better than Serena, but Serena had better character development than May, but May also decided her goal earlier than Serena, but Serena's goal is a lot shorter than May's (only going to 3 triathlons, while has to go to 5 contests), but May has a better team, which includes an uber (Blaziken). That's 3 points for May and 2 points for Serena, which means May wins.

Honestly , Serena acts so passive , shy and desperate around Ash that it destroys all her appeal .
Just because it work with Hinata (Naruto) doesn't mean it will work with Serena. It only work with Naruto because he was guy who was hated by others while the girl he's loved were chasing after a "Hot Guy".
However , XY Ash is loved and adore like everyone!
I know , Serena is a girl in Love But she's not the only childhood friend that has a crush on the protagonist.
There are a lot character with crush on the protagonist but they doesn't let their crush on the protagonist to control them.
Even Kotori (yugioh Zexal) seem like a better character then Serena despite being useless.
Plus , A Major flaw in Amourshipping is that its only important for Serena! Even if Ash dump Serena for a better girl , It will not affect him or the Anime.
That why Amourshipping failed to attract audience .
This show needs a heroin who love-story with Ash can affect the Anime! For example : A love story with Serious female rival can affect the entire show because the love-story will play a role in her & Ash's development toward their League battle.

Another would be a girl who can build a powerful Love-triangle around her , Ash & another boy.
That girl happen to be May.
Since her feeling for Ash is unconfirmed while Drew aiming toward her heart , May can create a Love-triangle that affect the story.
Because Ash might lose here ! Ash is the main protagonist so whatever happens to him reflect the entire series.
Honestly , if Writer wants a good romantic subplot in Anime then its better if they focus on the love-triangle between Ash , May & Drew.
Ash & May also seem to closer to Jimmy & Marina ! Jimmy is basically based on Jotho Ash while May has more of Marina's optimism.
