    I am sure you might be aware of this, but I just had a problem with the sites server as it said it was "too busy."

    I was locked out of the site for about 20 minutes.
    Is this a common problem?

    I understand that it is very hard to solve this problem, hence why I have just set this topic as feedback =]
     
    apparently we're suffering a synflood and UDP scan attack.. we have the network security people looking into it right now.

    Just be patient, since there WILL be slow page loads as the firewall is quite busy, as we work to solve the problem..
     
    we are STILL watching the traffic.. will update you all if there is any changes.

    As long as no computers were fried, I'm alright with this. It was only down for like 30 minutes anyhow, but from the test_account I saw there, things look a little sketchy...
     
    looks like the flood attacks came back.. we're working with the network security staff to limit / stop it now..

    some of you may not be able to access PC during this time.. so just hang out and try again later (DO NOT KEEP REFRESHING THE PAGE!)

    we're working as fast as we can to solve this issue.

    Damn, Who the hell would be Launching a (D)DoS on PC?
    It's not like we've done anything :-/

    Something similar to this happened to Rangerboard a few months ago. It led to a massive amount of double posts (I saw it get to even quintuple posts once or twice, all due to people, though) They started cutting the huge threads into monthly threads so they took up less space and stuff. Not sure if this is the same thing, though.
     
    No, To (D)DoS You need control over at least 10 boxes (computers/servers) and to have this effect, you're looking at about 100-200.

    He's using an unmodified version of wordpress which shows he's an idiot, and unable to pull off such an attack.
     
    OMG. Ughhh. This is soooo annoying.
    This kept happening to me. I thought it was my internet
    or my computer so I restarted the server and my computer and
    it still happened. Just when I was about to edit my post :(

    oh well, now it works. Good luck on the job to the team! :D

    Well, I hope that you guys get this sorted out really fast, if I knew anything about maintaining a website (besides basic HTML) I'd help as best I could, but alas, I know little to nothing xD
    Hopefully this idiot get's put down soon!
