    Shinies are a game mechanic, sort of an easter egg that Game Freak introduced in Generation II. These elusive creatures have an extremely low chance of appearing and have a different color scheme than their non-shiny counterparts and "emit" sparkles when they are sent out to battle. Here's one example of a shiny charizard next to a normal one.

    How often have you encountered them? What do you think about this feature?
     
    I absolutely love Shiny!! I didn't hatch or run into one in the wild until Gen 6. I've had them throughout the Generations from trading, I plan to Catch Them All!! one day. That's why we play right?
     
    I think shinies are a pretty cool aspect of the games, since they make for some unique Pokemon!!
    Although there are some shinies that imo look worse than their original, most do look pretty awesome.
    I used to have the worst luck in finding shinies, and i actually never did until Gen6. Thanks to chain fishing, even i have shinies now!! :D
