I got the card Shining Raichu from a friend in about 5th grade. It has three rare stars in the corner. How rare is it?

    Neo Destiny

What's the set? It's doesn't sound altogether too rare, though. What is worth noting is that the set symbol has now been in the same corner as the rarity and the collector's number since roughly 2002.

The set is Neo Destiny. What do you mean?

It's a nice card, not seen very often but definitely not the rarest. I would estimate around $15, give or take a few dollars.

I asked only because I was apparently looking at the wrong sets for this Raichu, and didn't realize it. Neo Destiny cards aren't all that hard to come by, since Pokemon was still riding its initial popularity wave.

And there's your price assessment, Drapionmaster. Rocket_Executive is knows her card prices very well.

    Thanks

Thanks, both of you! You've been very helpful!

No problem, Drapionmaster. And thanks for the compliment, Candy Cane Forest Elf! You're right about the popularity of Neo, Pokemon didn't begin to dip until right after those sets, around 2002. Cards from before this era are fairly easy to find still, because they were still in demand and more were printed.

When it comes to the Shining Pokemon, the Japanese versions are much more rare to come by. Wizards of the Coast decided to make the Shining Pokemon more easier to get in the English release of Neo Destiny. I myself own Shining Magikarp, Gyarados, Kabutops, Steelix, and Celebi.

For Reference, her is a list of all the Shining Pokemon:
    Shining Celebi (Neo Destiny)
    Shining Charizard (Neo Destiny)
    Shining Gyarados (Neo Revelation)
    Shining Kabutops (Neo Destiny)
    Shining Magikarp (Neo Revelation)
    Shining Mew (Japanese Promo)
    Shining Mewtwo (Neo Destiny)
    Shining Noctowl (Neo Destiny)
    Shining Raichu (Neo Destiny)
    Shining Steelix (Neo Destiny)
    Shining Tyranitar (Neo Destiny)
