I recall a time on my Crystal version long ago when I was in the grass around the nursery outside of Goldenrod City and came across a Drowzee that was slightly different. It's color wasn't yellow and brown like a normal Drowzee, it was kind of purple/pink with yellow and had the shiny stars going across it. Is that normal for a game like the Crystal version? I didn't modify the game at all, so there must be some explanation as to why it was shiny. Sadly, I didn't think much of it at the time and never captured it. Gosh. :disappoin

Shinies are extremely rare! There's only a 1/8,192 chance of finding one in the wild. A shiny Drowzee in Crystal was actually one of my very first shinies too, it caught me off guard but I didn't know much about glitches then so I caught it xD

Actually that is only true for Gen III and onward. In Gen II games shinies work differently.

"In Generation II, Shininess is determined by the IVs of a Pokémon. If a Pokémon's Speed, Defense, and Special IVs are 10, and its Attack IV is 2, 3, 6, 7, 10, 11, 14 or 15, it will be Shiny."

You're right but so is Azalea. You're right that it's determined by IVs in Gen II; however, that still works out to a 1/8192 chance. If you had read on just two paragraphs on the page you quoted you would have seen that. :P

Anyway question answered so locking this now. In the future if you have questions about a particular game, ask in the quick question thread in that section! Thanks!
