    Ive Come Across 2 now! And Ive Repeativly asked in the help thread so.
    what do shiny leafs actually do?

    they do nothing at all, except givin you an extra star on your trainer card!

    That's basically it - essentailly a finding sub-quest that get you a trainer star on your card if you find 5 for a Pokemon + show to your psudo-rival in New Bark Town.

    Closed - if questions in the Help thread aren't answered for a while then you can ask again there. Also you can check sites like serebii.net, bulbapedia, etc, or the FAQ thread as stuff is sometimes covered there as well - which it actually is:
    You can find items as well to dress up your Pokemon with in pictures, and depending on the nature of your Pokemon and the Route you talk to them in, you may find a 'Shining Leaf', an item which appears in their status screen. Collect 5 for one Pokemon and show them to your psudo-rival, and you'll get a star on your Trainer Card and a certificate.

    (Shining Leaf was the old term for it commonly used).
